ReefBlueHatch's Progress Thread

With the bay finished, I started tearing into the motor. I finally got my heads back from the machine shop. Friday I bought a set of FRPP shortys with 500 miles on 'em from CL for $175. Yesterday I did some sandblasting on accessories brackets and valve covers (after a lot of Tail Strip II).

Well it's been awhile since an update. I've been busy getting the engine back together, painting, blah blah blah... I'm sick of working on this thing!

The doors have new pins, bushings, rollers, spring tensioners, and strikers. It amazing to have doors that stay open and shut solid. I also put in new courtesy light switches. In the hatch I finally bought a spare tire cover and the mushroom and wing nuts that hold up the cargo net. A friend who does porting is working on the lower intake, so I'm hoping to get the engine down in the car in two weeks.

The sludge was the worst in the valley. I did a lot of scraping and then brushed a lot of parts cleaner. The PCV screen was clogged horribly. Then down in the bottom end the pickup time had a bad kink that almost pinched it shut. I installed a new OEM oil pump and pickup tube for good measure.

If you want to get technical a wheel is the rim and tire together. So he was correct;)

Cause this is how Websters defines it:

Definition of WHEEL

2
: a contrivance or apparatus having as its principal part a wheel: asa : a chiefly medieval instrument of torture designed for mutilating a victim (as by stretching or disjointing)b : bicyclec : any of many revolving disks or drums used as gambling paraphernaliad : potter's wheele : steering wheel
3
a : an imaginary turning wheel symbolizing the inconstancy of fortuneb : a recurring course, development, or action : cycle
4
: something (as a round flat cheese) resembling a wheel in shape
5
a : a curving or circular movementb : a rotation or turn usually about an axis or center;specifically : a turning movement of troops or ships in line in which the units preserve alignment and relative positions as they change direction

Why do I have to wait a week?
And since when is the ASE an authority on what makes a wheel,....a wheel? I haven't had a minute of tech school training, and all I gotta do to get ASE certified is pay the fee, and take the test. That doesn't make me an expert though.

Speaking of wheels,...I love FR500's that are on your car OP,..done w/ me piratin':pirate:

because ASE is by the book correct way for doing things in our automotive world..so TECHNICALLY a wheel is a tire and rim together.
