will a set of regular 1-5/8" shorty headers work on gt40p heads as long as a spark plug socket is customized for them?

Arent the ports shaped differently? Not sure, but I thought they were. You could always sell your current headers to offset the cost of the P headers.

Mike, the P heads accept equal length headers on the one side. I did a set of them on my buddies Fox and for some reason, the one side fit fine (a little tight, but still fit) and the other side wouldn't fit because of how the primaries were bent.

I just took them down to an exhaust shop I used to work at and used their mandrel bender and welded a new piece in.

Really though, you probably shouldn't booger the headers up. They're made like they are for a reason...

I don't have any experience with Headmans....

The ones I that wouldn't work for me were MACs. I didn't even have the option of using a modded plug socket because they wouldn't even bolt up...

yea a reason that may have happened, and i may be misunderstanding you, but since mac's dont have a single flange, they are all individual, they have been known to warp sometimes...

wierd... the p's have the same bolt patterns for the exhaust as any other SB ford head. only difference is the spark plug location/angle. maybe i missed it but was the plug location the reason for them not bolting up?

yea i was wondering the same....any regular shorties should work as long as you have that socket you cut up...not to mention its going on a fox with no smog so he doesnt have to worry about that being in the way...

i run bbk shorties on my gt40p heads, and have for about a year and a half now. No problems, except that you must wrap the driver's side header, or get some short 90deg plug wired for #6,#7 cyls.
