Ok, (hopefully) within the next week, we will be putting the headliner back into the Mach as we get her back into one piece. I see pieces of the old headliner up under the window goo...so I know it must fold up and over the lip of the rear window...I'm guessing that's a part of the reason so many fastbacks have leaky rear windows! Anyone find a better way? Or at least explain the best way to do it the way it was done?

Lots and lots and lots of little manuscriptclips. Really good glue, a hair dryer (to get the wrinkles out, or just let it bake in the sun for a while) and a whole lot of patience.

Once you have put a headliner in, you will have attained the rank of mustang knight. You will soon become a mustang master and be placed on the mustang council on Coruscant.

No, seriously, it is a PITA and make sure you pick a weekend where it is not expected to rain.

I'm working on the same thing right now! I found a decent article about how to do it here: http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/41579/ Did your headliner come with an instruction sheet? Mine did so if you want I could email you a copy or something.

I did the headliner in my 72 fastback a few years ago and luckily did not have to pull the windows. I just used a liberal amount of glue on the sheet metal closest to the window seals and tucked the headliner under the window seals with a putty knife. It's been holding strong for a while now and I don't forsee any problems in the future.

Even when I replace the window seals I will still do the headliner this way.

It probablt did come with instructions, I havent pulled it out yet-we're working on grinding down welds & seam sealing, didn
t want to jump ahead of myself...

mach1972, this sounds like a better idea for us-We have more interior work to do, but I wanted to get the window back in....
