hey guys,

as mentioned by my earlier thread, Ive been around the block a bit and am welcome to be back in the stang community with you all. Ive done three headswaps on my old car, picked up a used 97 and got a few sets of PI heads sitting around ready to go after years in the shed. I was the first to run reground cams before billet cams come out, and they trashed my motor due to incorrect adjustment with lash caps under the lifters

My question is this, with you mod motor guys, how confident are you with you cams, aftermarket, not PI or non PI guys, but true after market cams that are billet or from houston performance and such that dont use lash caps, and what problems have you or what issues due you anticipate with them, and how many miles. sorry for all the ?'s, and thanks again

Don't know if this applies, but I have comp stage II cams in my mod motor, with the proper tune, it's perfect, no issues at all, plus a good increase in power...

I don't know if this answers your question either, but I have Comp 262's and they have caused no problems at all. I've had them for over a year now.

IDK if this is a "problem", but my cams VT Stg 1 N/A cams.. they produce a good amount of shaking the car, which does get old after a while, and also some major low rpm bucking of something that sounds terrible.. Good pewer increase, but also has some features that go along with them

That sounds more like it's in the tune, rather than the fault of the cams.

I agree, bucking is most likely something odd in the tune.

To the OP.. As long as you double check all the tolerances and check the degree of the cams you should be good with a tune. Just know that if you put the PI head on and get some cams for the PI engine you will most likely have to flycut the pistons.

X2 but mine have been in for 2 years. No issues whatsoever after 60K miles.
