Revving at other stangs

So one day i was coming back to my car from the grocery store. On the street next to the store i saw a white 94/95 GT and i looked it than soon as i walked closer to my car. He starts revving the piss out of his car making himself look like a fool @ the stop light b/c his exhaust sound like flows on a stock h (****ty and quiet), but he kept revving. I start my car up and roll out of the parking lot and my exhaust isn't exactly quiet than as i get to the stop sign he stops. I guess he thought my stang had stock exhaust and thought his was bad ass till i got rolling.

SMH. Oh well

would not worry that much about it, sounds like you just came across a young punk. ....I have done this to slower and faster cars, it is like Harley's, they all wave to each other, some reving is fine but we all know what we have under the hood and how fast our car is. Again, you just came across some young punk who races curbs and anything else on the road because he has a mustang......
Why did you not turn around and address the "bird" that you were given...

We always rev down here, its like saying "Hi".

Just today on my lunch I was ordering my food at TacoBell/KFC and I heard another 4.6 pull up. I look in my mirror, and he pulled up right behind me in the drive through line. His car was EXACTLY like mine, sonic blue, 5 speed, bullitts, only his was a little louder and mine has a grill delete. He revved, then I revved, then he gave me a thumbs up and I waved at him when I was pulling out.

I was turning right into my parking lot, and he was going straight. He was coming up behind me the lane to the left of me, and I just gave it a quick blip, looked over, and low and behold I see him fliipping me the bird. If I would have been going straight and he was beside me and did that, I wouldn't hesitate to throw it back/follow him home and beat his ignorant ass in if needed lol. He was heading to the nicer area of the city, so I'm going to assume his parents bought him the car and he's a little punk kid who thinks his car is the ****. Either that or he's just an idiot. I didn't really get a good look at the guy.

It's awesome to see that everyone is on the same page here :nice: . I love hearing other mustangs that have exhaust, but not if they are doing it to try and show they are better than you. It's truly shocking how some peoples ego is so inflated by the car they drive :nono: .

My wife has a trained ear. We can be in the city and she hears an exhaust she knows weather or not its a 5.0L. You can always tell a 5.0L sound. My 5.8L is just much louder. She makes fun of my horn so i think thats why i mostly rev now. I doubt you would be able to hear my horn if my car was running anyways.

nobody really revs around here, basically because all the 99 and newer stang owners are older adults who just drive the car because its a mustang, but then there are a million teenagers in 94-98 stangs around here and theyll rev and race anything anywhere. They all think a lightly modded 04 is slower than there stock 94-98. Its fun when they catch up and look completely shocked at what just happened. The 03-04 cobra owners rev it up tho at least to me, I give a rev back but im not stupid enough to even try and mess with one of them.:owned:

Reason being, I was slowing down to pull into my lot, and I seen a stang coming up behind me in the lane beside me, so I gave the exhaust a blip and the ****er gave me the finger!! Personally I like hearing other stangs exhaust and like to hear the revs. However, if this guy has stock exhaust he might have felt like I was showing off or boasting that I was better in some way, which wasn't the case.

What do you guys think?

I think you were probably pulling into your lot to slowly and he was sick and tired of waiting on you.

I only do a friendly rev at other cars if they do it first. Majority of the mustangs guys around here are a bunch of tools and really have no clue about their cars in general. The fbody and c5 vette guys on the other hand are some of the nicest people I have met. 9 times out of 10 its one of these cars giving me friendly rev.

Thats funny you say that, everyone thinks the 99-04's are slow.

When i pull into a gas station i always get "wow that sounds nice, how'd you make it sound like a 5.0"
"What motor does this have" 4.6 "Ahh that sucks, why didn't you get the v8?"
Let me just say that I'm talking TO OTHER MUSTANG DRIVERS during these conversations. :nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

If i can recite every mustang motor and hp number from 1964-2007 why can't they at least know that 260hp>215-225hp (even though the quoted number is 225 its documented that they(fox 5.0's) left the factory officially rated at 215, i dont know what they actually dyno at)

ahh well. 5.0 guys will rev and look smug, then i'll rev and they'll kinda looked shocked, mouth open eyes wide, then they look away quickly and drive off. Once in a while with an older 5.0 driver i'll get a thumbs up and a big smile.
T/A's and F-body's give me crazy respect and i'm constantly being revved by at them (most of the drivers are 20-30). Its hard to rev an auto quickly so i'll either wave or quickly drop into N to give a quick rev.
As for every other mustang drivers.. ... Well if their car isn't falling to pieces or being driven by a 40+ year old then its being driven by a 16 year old. They always want to race and i don't oblige. They don't rev, they dont wave, they dont acknowledge your presence. I think alot of the 16yo mustang drivers are fairly afraid.

It's also a general rule not to look at someone, or even smile when next to someone at a red light, there are alot of questionable people living here, and I've had a gun pointed at me because me and a friend were laughing at a stop light about what his g/f said the night before... About 7 25yo guys in a 5 seater olds beside us...Guy beside says "You think somethings funny, gotta problem with my car, think my spinner caps aren't tight enough yo" and then he pulled a gun and we took off, unfortunately we were in my friends hyundai 1.3L (or something) Scoupe... luckily his Scoupe is turbocharged and modded. We ended up getting away by out handling them in some residential areas. So i've learned to not acknowledge most other people while im driving.

This is one reason I like where i live. In canada we don't hear of this happening at all. Well atleast I haven't. I like the small town scene anyways away from crazy's like that.

If someone actually DOES rev at me...that means go time for a little bit of racing! It very rarely happens around here though because most of the females that own Mustangs in this area are younger and their mommy/daddy just bought it for them as a graduation present or something. You'd think most people would be able to tell from my exhaust that I'm not one of them, but it's still hard to get anyone to play when you're a female driver.

I always try to give at least a smile or nod when I see another one though.

I was just wondering what peoples opinion is on this. If another stang is driving by you, and they give their engine a rev... do you view that as an insult or just a friendly gesture amongst stang owners? I mean, if you see the guy glaring at you and revving his car, then obviously it isn't intended as a friendly gesture, he's just being a jackass.
