rocker arm question

Are you saying you have roller rockers and want to know if they need to be replaced or are you wondering if you have to upgrade to roller rockers?

If it is the former the answer is no unless they are damaged. If it is the latter then I would have the heads modified for studs and buy 7/16th stud rockers. Do you have to go roller? No but I would not run stock rockers on any cam over stock.

Pedestal roller rockers are pricey and you can't use them if you go to aftermarket heads. Comp Gold race rockers are 259.99 (stud) and thier aluminum pedestal rockers are 289.99 for 3/8 and 370.95 for 5/16th's.

I have no idea what it would cost to modify the heads for studs but it's not a big deal to do so it can't be that much. Of course you have to factor in the cost of the studs as well but you'll be able to recoupe some of this if you sell the heads down the road.

i think i am going to use the stock rocker arms cause the motor only has about 40 thousand on it thanks

Mileage of the engine has nothing to do with the decision of whether or not to use roller rockers. Roller rockers do require less HP to use than standard rockers. You may pick up a few HP that way. They're also more consistant from arm to arm as far as the ratio goes then the stock arms.
