Don't get caught up in the NUMBERS on those graphs; but the general shape is a very accurate representation. Peak torque values will be highest on the turbo, flattest torque curve from the positive displacement.

As my project 66 is not operational, I cannot give you an opinion for that specific setup [KB @ 12psi, 331 forged/sportsman block, AFR 185's, cam, methanol] but I wanted that instant "smack you back in your seat" torque. Hope to be driving the car in '06.

My '05 GTO has been an interesting project. With a rear-mount turbo, it has a tad more lag than a front mount, but that is a car that STOCK puts ~350hp to the rear wheels [although the car does weigh ~3800+ lbs]. The midrange pull in 2nd-4th gears is just unreal w/ ~500 rwhp. STS made me a deal that was too good to say 'no' to in order to get the first '05 car done. KB STILL hasn't got their promised LS1 kit out. The ATI Procharger cars are certainly making some righteous power on the LSx engines, with better throttle response and power @ 2500...but no where near the torque or midrange.

I go back and forth as to what kind of engine I will build for my 65. I really like the idea of the 408/427/460 Windsor...WITH a power adder. I just want to reduce the weight on the front of the car [hence my 'semi-serious' thread on an LSx swap]...and a Dart 351W block IS HEAVY!!! Add a turbo/blower on the front end of the car, and it is even more of an issue. Maybe build a Dart 8.2 block with a REAR mount turbo for it!!!

Personally, I cannot imagine running an old style roots with the thing sticking out of the hood...just too much [although I love my little model '65 Shelby with the HUMUNGOUS blower sitting on the shelf!].

And keep up the work on the blow-through cars. I am intrigued by the simplicity and NOT needing a zillion feet of wires and the issues of efi setup.

here is a pic of my 347/671. I dyno'd the car a few weeks ago with a 1 to 1 pulley number 35, which is 5-6 psi on PUMP GAS and it made 650 tq and around 430hp untuned. The car ran fat...On the street this car is a monster. i'm in the process of changing the pulley to run on race gas, hoping to hit 700rwhp with my dart block. I have several pulleys to choose from, I can run a large pulley 5-6psi and run the car on pump gas or switch to a smaller pulley and run race gas at the track. I like having the options...My car is a true street car, I drive it ever where...

you have a picture with the hood on and the blower sticking out? Also what size rear tire are you running, 1.7 60' times is still not bad with that much power

I don't have a pic with the hood on, I will have one in a few days. I think I have a 275/45/15. It is the biggest tire that will fit under a 67 stang. The car is currently at the dyno shop waiting for Sun.

Don't know yet...

ok, now you're the person I want to be talking to. How is the driveability with that much power? Is traction even possible or is it just a joke?

I had a Vortech S-trimmed 97 Cobra that had just at 500 rwhp and it was fine to drive. Remember that it's progressive boost, so if you are just cruising, it will drive like any car (maybe not "any" car) below 2,000 rpm. I have this engine limited to 6,000 rpm. Between 3,500 and 6,000 it gets insane.

I have Nitto drag radials, but it will never really hook on the street and like my Cobra, it's about throttle and clutch control. It will be very fast and fun with what traction it gets. I'll get a set of slicks too and see what she'll do down the road...

I know this is a dumb question, but with a big roots blower sticking out of the hood, what do you do when it rains?

You could turn off the blower, like Mad Max.
