RPMII vs Holley SysteMAX vs Trickflow R

Which one of these would you put on a 331? I can't really decide as there are guys with all three making great power. Will be N/A and I don't need to pass emissions. Street car and will be shifting around 6200RPM at the track. Not worried about torque, the 331 itself should make up for that. I am leaning towards either the Edelbrock or Holley.

Holley all the way.

TFS R is not too big; the Track Heat is a bit small.

The RPM II would need some work done to it to be able to compete with the Holley, but it's no slouch by any means.

Again, this is all my opinion.

The TFS R power range is between 2,500 to 7,250. While the Track heat is 1,500 to 6,500 he said he would be shifting at 6200 at the track it's right where he wants it to be.
Yes, but remember these "ratings" are based off of a 302.

More cubes need more air.

The best explaination I've ever heard about an intake manifold cam from a very hardcore racer. He said something along these lines, "An intake manifold is an inanimate object. It's purpose is to stuff the cylinder heads with air."

When someone presses the skinny pedal, any of the aforementioned manifolds will do just that without a problem, regardless of how high you plan on spinning the motor. All are good choices, some are a little better than others.

I'm not trying to argue; if it seems that way, I apologize. We are having a discussion. :)

Joe basically nailed it dead on!!

Joe, what have you heard the rpm 2 needs in terms of work? Only thing I know of that it needs is porting the inlet to 75mm so you can run the right size TB. I was trying to decide on which one i'm gonna use with my planned 347 and jay allen said he rpefers the rpm 2. Since he'll most likely be doing my custom cam. I am even considering the victor 5.0. I too wanna shift by 6200 and keep the stock rev limiter. I'm itching to spend money so maybe i'll order my shortblock soon :D

Swingline, you cant go wrong with either, but like I said, the rpm 2 needs to have the inlet opened up so you can run the 75mm TB. ANYTHING less is too SMALL!! Im actually thinking about the 75mm race TB, its 90mm opening and 75mm at the blade. Only bad thing is, I dont think it comes with the port for the line that runs from the oil neck to the TB. Unless sn95's dont have this??

I will either run the RPMII or the Holley. Ed C likes the Edelbrock but the Holley makes more power. I don't think I'll really notice a few HP either way though so I will probably go with what I can get a better deal on. I like the Holley though because it is different. You don't see a lot of SN95 guys running one.

funny you are having this conversation i just bought a holly set up with a 347 stroker. undecided about a cam? haven't really thought about it yet what about fti how long do they take to get and who do i contact about one
?

I will look at prices for both. I *might* do the Fox TB conversion so I can get me a nice Accufab. I will hopefully have the longblock squared away by the end of this weekend so I can concentrate on the top-end. I won't be doing any of the install until this fall/winter so I have plenty of time.

Any idea if either of these fit under a stock hood?

You are absolutely right it makes sense on what you are say. I didn’t take into consideration the more cubes being used. :hail2: I’m not worthy :hail2:
ps nice discussion :D

I am still undecided but am 99.9% sure that I will get the Holley. Is anyone actually using any of these intakes? I would love to see a pic of them on a motor.
Mike,

A few guys over on the Corral use the Holley manifolds, but none that I know of on Stangnet.

I run the holley but i don't advertise much nor do i post very often...

Anyways... I like my systemax II... No problems thus far. Only thing i don't like is most other manufaturers make an elbow for thier intake... but holley doesn't.... (that i know of anyway)

I realized that Holley didn't make an elbow and thought that was kind of strange. I am probably going to the Fox style TB so the elbow won't be needed anyway. Is the Holley the only intake you have ever run? If not, did you see any gains over your previous one?
yeah its the only intake i have used on my 331, but i really don't see any other intake making much if any more power...
