Ryan's motor build H/C/I

nice work ryan,

usually if i stare at my engine bay long enough i start seeing 4v cobra engines and fire breathing dragons, so to only come up with filling the holes, you must not be what im on.

i would hid the wires, and f' the holes its a big job and will take you a while, hiding the wires is easy

Yea I'd put that long block on craigslist or ebay to be picked up. I've seen people trying to sell stock long blocks for like 400 bucks. I'd list it for like 250 picked up with the stand, or 200 if you need the stand.

For 17 y/o....you do some damn fine work.

thanks/

+1

Ryan have you torn down that old engine yet (heads off) to see what the issue was? That old engine seems perfectly fine i wouldn't send it off to the bone yard. Try selling that ****zle. (unless you already are and i missed that post :D)

yeah i tore head off on side that blew. blew the head gasket out.

and its already sold to a guy. lol

very nice bud. definatly weld up the holes. even if its gonna be spray canned black. good progress on the motor also. get that old one apart to see what was wrong with it.

i will be. and no spray paint here. lol

Stock would still hold up. MY buddy made 514RWHP on a stock 302 shortblock, 14PSI and race gas. It had 160,000 miles on the shortblock too.

i know a guy running a 92 5.0 230k mile motor and it runs 9.80s on a turbo! IT IS A WASTE OF TIME PUTTING DIFFERENT PISTONS AND RODS IN THAT MOTOR! CLEAN IT UP AND THROW IT IN!!!!!!!!!!!

i can now see im an idiot. the place that painted the car back in 01 sprayed rubber under coating over the rusty frame rail on the driver side and did a hill by repair. its really bad the more i dug into it. bad enough to where a few hard launches at the track with the new motor and it wouldn't surprise me if the k-member wouldn't of ripped away from the car. the passenger side is perfect. of course that's what happen when a car sits under a car port for 90% of its life with the passenger side to the house and drive side exposed. right now.

i wish i was older and when these cars came out bought a new one. i hate hillbilly repairs that retarded owner do!

to fix it im going to have to drop the k-member and get it out of the way. so i highly doubt the car will see the road untill spring of 2010 now.

Take pics. Sometimes a little rust won't hurt anything. The only fix for that is to insert a boxed peice of steel where the K-frame bolts up to the frame rail/strut tower area. A fab shop by me makes those up all the time and throws them in on rotted cars, or even modified cars to add srength. He uses 1/4" steel in there and reinforces it for strength.

Ryan, if the car isn't gonna pull the wheels and run 10's I wouldn't worry about the frame getting tweaked or the K-frame getting ripped out. An Explorer motor with a GT40 upper half won't hurt the car.
