Unfortunately, a lot of people are unaware of the extreme possibilities an S351 has.

No matter how you look at it, the S351 has far more potential. It's blown (6psi) and not intercooled. It's running on the Saleen tune (ie: super rich) and can easily be made monsters with a decent amount of boost thrown at it and an intercooler. Bump that sucker up to about 15psi + an intercooler, get a proper tune and you'll be well on your way to the 700+'s no problem.

Then there's always the factor of it having a lot more displacement than an 03/04 cobra motor too. Which once again, will give it a distinct advantage once the modding begins. Stock for stock: S351>>>S281-E>03/04 Cobra as far as raw power is concerned.

If your going to spend that kind of money, I will tell you what I would do.I would buy a new or used GT stang, then yank the engine and install one of those ALL billet steel stroker engines(get it custom made if you have to) with 8- 8.5 compression, buy some 4V heads have them ported to the max with huge valves and some blower cams, have someone install the heads, get all the other boltons including a full SPL exhaust, then buy a procharger F1 R with 30+ PSI, have the CPU reflashed to handle all of that, buy a viper spec T56 trans, install a detroit locker with some 31-35 spline axles, and some super wide Nitto DRs on the back, and say hello to 1000++++ HP at the flywheel, with the engine capability to run 10,000+ RPMs (cam providing).Just my thoughts.

Not bullet proof. Getting 700 RWHP out of an E will be pretty much impossible.

Tom..............why would that be impossible?

If a stock head, stock intake 2 valve got 600 to the tires, what would happen with ported heads, bullitt intake, and more boost on the same built motor? Not to mention he could always add a 100 shot to achieve his goal too....

There are a couple of things.

1st is the intake. The Saleen intake design doesn't allow for enough air flow. The runners start at the bottom then go up and do a 180 degree turn into the heads. They are also tiny.

2nd is the intercooler - it's not very efficient even though it's gotten better.

3rd is the TB inlet tube. It's a cork.

Now if you put a KB intake\intercooler setup with the 2.2L and the 03 Cobra inlet on - that's a whole new story.

I actually talked to a person with a S351 and he said that it keeps overheating...
