Progress Thread She’s a runner

Can you guess what I’m doing?

ya I’m not happy with the water pump pulley so I’ll make my own.
I wish I had the training and tools to do this type of thing well. Is this lathe at home, or is it off the clock at work?
For an air cooled engine project, I ended up sending a machinist a steel fan pulley to make a lighter and improved aluminum one. Now he sells copies on eBay and through a model specific vendor.

Edit - page one says the lathe is at home. That’s cool and looks like something to not bump a toe on.

At home. I have a mill at my brothers house too. I worked at a machine shop way back when I was in my early 20s. I’ve always enjoyed it. I’m no expert but I get by.

Worked on this off and on today. Got it roughed in. Now I have to make more precise measurements.

Just about done. It’s a bit hefty. Might trim some more material off. Still need to drill holes. I might take it to get anodized.

It all fits and tracks good. I ordered some arp hardware for it. I also noticed a click coming from the tensioner I think, I’ll address that later though. This thing is probably coming out possibly over thanksgiving

Here is a pair of high purrformance cats that will not quiet the car down. They will not smell like gasoline either. But I am not sure the garage will smell better.

Some random thought. If I adapt the current throttle cable to the new TB it won’t have enough travel to go wot. At a minimum I’ll need a new cable so I’m gonna see what’s out there that might work. I think I can make an additional mounting point on the tb to get the pull I need. I could also make some kind of lever system to accomplish this. I’m way ahead of myself but these thinks pop in my head

I simply altered the fulcrum on my TB's when I did the crazy dual TB setup. one of them didnt open until the other was at 50%, I did that by using a slide arm, it was inventive.

I think I could fab up a different mounting point but I’ll still need a universal cable most likely. Originally on the lightening the cable comes from the front and goes under the cam and wraps around to the top to open it. Mine will come from behind and pull from the top.

Well day after thanksgiving starts the winter build season up north here. Figured I’d start by getting fluids drained and maybe accessories removed. Well I was on a roll...
