It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

It's no secret I've been looking to get into another project for a while. I've had friends looking around and keeping their ears and eyes open for me for weeks.

I may have found it... I don't have a lot of pictures.. and it's not a Mustang..

I'm making a flying 70 mile run with a trailer this weekend!

Looks like a tail gate where you had to use a chain to keep it from flopping. I'm guessing 50 something P/U.

Now there's two of them damn things in a mustang forum?

we may as well change the title of the forum to FordsometimeLS-net.

Damn straight! Only this baby won't see any LS. That 351w I've been sitting on will find it's way into this one.. Stroked, of course. I'm thinking sitting in the weeds with steel wheels and whitewall tires. :D

I'm thinkin I'll check back with you in three years .

Are you trying to steal the "who's car will take longer to get completed" status from me or Scott?

Go ahead,......make my day.

If the truck evolves to look like the example you posted,...mega coolness.

Here,....let me be the first to contribute .

Take your jeans to a seamstress.

Have her cut the bottoms out of the pockets, and extend them so that they are as long to the distance to your knee.

In other words, when you stick you hand into your pocket, you'll be able to stick your whole arm into there all the way down to your knee to reach the bottom.

Congratulate your seamstress for modifying your pants accordingly.

Fill your pockets with money. (now you have a whole buttload of extra room to to fill up)

Go out and buy an old assed fat fendered pick up.

Then start modifying it, doing what needs to be done to bring a 60 year old heap into the 21st century.pay big money having to source parts that are obsolete, or only available at certain specialized resto parts houses dealing in paleolithic Ford pick ups.

Wonder why,....despite having added all the extra capacity that your newly extended pockets are always empty.

Well, to quote a sage old man named Mike, I know "stuff." I don't mind chopping on this thing. I can get a vic front end cheap... I have a buddy that bags lowriders on the side whom i just happen to be building an engine for... So, there's that. I can weld, fab, do bodywork, suspension, engines and paint. All car projects are costly, but they don't have to kill you. This truck can be ratty and still cool. It's not going to be a restoration, but a build. Face it Mike.. You've inspired me. Is that so bad??

I love those damn things. Buddy has a rat rod Chevy version with straight pipes. It's a little "red necky" sounding but still a cool little truck. Co worker has a 53 GMC and I would really like to have a slammed 55 Ford. Make sure you make a thread. I'll subscribe lol.

I think that would be pretty cool Allen.

You can tear that down to the frame.

Will you build a small rotisserie for the body? It wouldn't be that tough to make one.

You can put a nice mid eighties GT hood decal on it!:D

I'm not entirely sure what my game plan is until i look at both trucks. I know one has iffy paint and one is completely red with surface rust. There are some guys around here that do soda blasting.. I need to ASSESS(fixt) it first. All I can say, is for what they guy wants money wise, I won't be passing on this one.

The last truck I got accused of inspiring it's owner to build became more of a scapegoat for blame. The whole freakin thread title was a testament to that.

Here's what happens when I "inspire" people.

#1. You decide to run a 4R70w, because it was my stated intention to do the same. You immediately contact a shop, and pay that guy big money to rebuild it. Only after having done that, you "discover" (because Mike looked at your posted pics) that there are two different transmissions, to fit two different engines (4.6 and SBF pattern). Mike is telling you that your's look wrong.

Do you blame yourself for not researching? Nope, You'll blame Mike for not telling you.

#2. You realize that the electrically controlled transmission will need an external method to control it's 4th gear engagement, and TC lockup. You research, and find out that there is a company that sells a black box for 500.00 that'll do that. You buy it.
Mike posts that he has found a manual solution to doing the same that only costs 200.00. You blame Mike for not telling you.

#3. You buy a cheap assed aluminum flex fan, ( actually, you've had it hangin' on a nail in your garage for the last 20 years) and install it (You know the kind that sposed to flatten out with RPM, and "save gas", or "increase HP" depending on your need?) After getting it done, you take it out for a test drive,.....and the flex fan proposes to the radiator.

They get married.

Mike posts a pic to illustrate that not only do flex fans flatten with RPM, they actually "flex forward" as the blades pull more air. Since your clearance was super close to your radiator, that forward flex has now causes the fan to eat up your radiator.
Mike posts this pic: (He points out that these rotors normally droop when the blades aren't spinning)

You, didn't consider that. But you blame Mike for not telling you just that same.

The moral to today's story......DONT BLAME ME! I DO ENOUGH STUPID SHT FOR ME!!!

You have me obviously mistaken for someone else. I've never done anything stupid in my life.
