Good ol' Wisconsin
i just took off my stock headers like 20 minutes ago and i am gonna buy some different one right now....... i have a mac offraod h-pipe on my car and my question is: are equal length and shorty headers the same overall length ??? just different design right? will equal length one fit inplace of my stock headers with no problems with my hpipe?

please help ASAP!!!!!!!

yeah, shorties are tha same length as your stock ones... they come in two styles... un-equal length and equal length... the un-equals are more like tha stock headers, while the equals are all tha same length piping

The equal length shorties don't allow as much access space to the plugs and are a bit more of a pain. I haven't seen anywhere that says the equal lengths are that much better than the unequal lengths. I'm gonna go for the BBK unequal ceramics on mine. Only $250 or so.

just my 2c.

I found a test not too long ago in MM&FF on BBKs product line on the matter. They found that the unequals actually made more torque overall than the equal lengths. But in the higher rpms, the equals started to pull away with horsepower numbers (only like 7 more hp at 5200 rpm or so). So they have minor tradeoffs, so there ya go.
