My friends dad knows a guy who says he's got a 03 terminator motor with the blower on it sitting on his garage floor taking up space. He says it's got a "blown head gasket". How difficult are these motors to rebuild compared to a pushrod motor? If it's just the head gasket can I just replace it? Don' t know much about mod motors. Any info is appreciated.

whats he asking? The blower itself is not worth much, but the forged shortblock and 4v heads is nice!

A blown head gasket? I don't remember anyone ever blowing one. not saying it is not true,but be cautious there could be a lot more damage

Try to turn it over with a breaker bar or something. Its supposed to take 30 lbs with the spark plugs out i think? If someone else knows chime in...

Right on blkhorse. If the head gasket on that motor is blown is it a big deal? How difficult is a rebuild on a mod motor compared to pushrod?

replacing the head gasket is not rebuilding the motor, it's rather simple. Especially with the motor out and bare. Even if it has valve issues that engine's worth the money

Lol! yeah I know that. I just didn't know if it would be hella expensive if the motor was blown or something. I've only messed with pushrod motors and I just wasn't sure!

i've NEVER seen a cobra blow a head gasket! even the turbo ones runfactory head gaskets. that engine is worth 2,000-4,000. something seems fishy!

is it an aluminum block or cast iron?

I would first verify that its actually a termi. then i would actually pull both heads of and inspect everything. if it is indeed just a blown head gasket (never heard of that before on a termi) I'd ****** it up.

I have read about plenty of people blowing a head gasket. They are easy to replace with the engine out. The only problem with those engines are the fact that the ptw clearance is to tight. That is a good.

2V's and 4V's RARELY blow headgaskets. That was a 5.0L thing. I would be careful.

Hmmm. Buddy's father is looking at it monday. It's out of state so I won't be there. I thought it was a little strange too.

You could prob make $1500+ parting it out if it's junk.

Blower = 300-500
heads = $1000/pair
crank
pistons
rods
engine blocks
etc

Jump on it....even if the entire bottom end is trashed, the engine complete with blower is still worth well over twice that!

Blower alone maybe, but sold complete with the lower intake manifold, intercooler and all accompanying hoses and parts that blowers worth well into the $1,500-$2,000 ragne...even used! Mach 1 and '99-'01 Cobra guys would be all over it!!!

I've already replace headgaskets on 2 terminator motors for overheating issue's and both only had simple bolts.
