heres one that has stumped me for a week or so....lately when i hammer it, or even when im merging onto the highway or something, i hear a rattling under the car that sounds like sheet metal rattling against other metal.....ive been so busy all week getting a job, that i haven't really givin it much thought....well i just dropped my bro off somewhere, and on my way back i had me some fun, and as i was hammering it pulling onto a main road in 1st, i heard the rattling......so when i got home i jacked teh car up, snugged all of teh h-pipe bolts down, and looked at everything that could possibly make this noise......any ideas here??? i also checked the brake dust shield which was previously lose, but it wasn't loose.....please help me out guys

a heat shield. i wish i could tell you where its located. but i had my mechanic pull it. the hardware holding it in place rusted and it became loose, making it rattle.
maybe someone else can give you a clue as to where the heat shield is.

i recently removed my dogbone and pinion snubber b/c it was making noise, it's worthless and ez to remove, right before the diff. housing on the d/s side

exhaust isn't rattling against the gas tank or anything is it?

I just recently had a similar problem. Found out that the two side bolts that bolt up my tranny crossmember had worked their way loose a little bit. Check that, too. It only made noise when I was taking off hard or braking hard.

check your rear sway bar, mine cracked right where the bolt goes through on one side and would rattle only when i accelerated hard. from what i've heard its common for them to break

If youve had headers put on recently you might want to check your oil dipstick bracket. The speed shop I go to forgot to re-install it when I got my longtubes put on and it would hit against the header around 2k rpm or whenever I was slowing down.

I had one of the exhaust clamps come loose a while back that made the noise you describe, it also made that noice when I drove up a steep hill as well.

Exact same problem here, but haven't had a chance to check it out.

I was thinking driver side header, but I dont think my exhaust is any louder since it started doing it.

I have the same problem, seems to occur between 3250-3750 rpm, and after that I wouldn't be able to hear it over the exhaust anyways But yea, mine sounds like it's coming from somewhere around the headers, maybe the heat shield? Anyways, doesn't do anything performance wise, just a noise....mine's been like that since I got it, good 20k miles, never really bothered me but I would love to know what it is...I always just assumed a restrictive or rattling header

i have a similar problem also. sounds like its coming from the passenger side. rattling kinda like pennies, not in neutral tho, or revving it. only rattles when i'm moving around 1600-1750 rpms in any gear. any suggestions?

I wasn't sure what you meant. If the noise is only RPM dependant, check the cats. 1500-1800 RPM is often a sweet spot frequency for rattling when a spot weld inside a cat lets go.

Good luck.

Now you guys got me thinking... mine does that once in a while when I hammer it, but I always assumed it was pinging I was hearing. However, when I hear it, I don't notice a loss in power, just the noise. It does sound exactly as you describe it, metal to metal rattling under the car, around the crossover pipe area.
So maybe its not pinging.... do you guys notice a significant drop in power when you hear pinging?
