Gonna try her out..ordered the Stage 2 kit.
JR..I'll prob be PMing you with tips on install. I'd like to hide the reservior if possible, but may not...need to keep a eye on the fluid level.
Off for my new tune as soon as this is installed!
I talked with Matt Snow for about 25-30min and we went over the details of my car..he says I should be able to run FULL timing on the car with this kit..thats like 35* if I'm not mistaken. I also told him I'm running 18* total WOT now, and he wouldnt be suprised to see some nice gains. I dont plan to run that much timing...but 25-30* total would be nice..oh and I'm also adding a extra 3#'s of boost.
I know S-Trims usually run around 200 degree IAT's, and with the added boost even higher...kit should be good for atleast a 50 degree drop in IAT as well. Lets hope it works for me.

Cheap alt. to a intercooler :)
 
I've been running 10#'s forever and plan to try 13#'s out.
Why...this is more effective, and i dont have to mess with piping, moving the blower to the other side of the car, flipping the intake, fitting a intercooler and so on. The time/gain is why. Mainly just the simplicity of the kit.
 
i was just saying, with just about any i/c at that boost level you will see more than a 50* drop, without refills. Now, hand in hand those water/alky injection + i/c is where the power is at. Remember Boost is your friend until it gets hot...
What is your setup? forged bottom end?
 
Thats awesome Ive been throwing around the Idea of adding a methanol/water kit to mine as well insted of taking the Intercooler route since there so expensive anyway. From what there claming out of these kits its well worth the $300 , be sure to keep us updated on the install process and when you get some results from it.

Also the only pics that I have seen w/ this kit or another one like it have been w/ the resivior bottle being where the battery is, is that pretty much the only place we can mount the bottle :shrug:

Also with a intercooler I will loose 2psi or so. I wont need dual coolers (would be cool) but this kit will cool my intake temps and allow me to run more than enuff timing/boost. Yes the bottom end is all 4340.


Striped...Yah most of the kits I have seen have the reservoir their also. I have no wiring on the front of my motor (batt/fuse box/TFI module..etc) everything is in the fender...I will make the install drag on to make sure it's clean..and yes I will supply many pics:)

Yeahloh...I've only been running 10psi because I've been to worried about running anything higher with no type of cooler. My intake temps were already in the 200 range, so imagine what yours were at 15psi..and the timing that was pulled to run that safely was prob alot. I think on a car liker mine/yours a gain of 30-50rwhp would be very very easy. I'll keep you informed.

BlueOval...yes I was gonna try that new AFM kit...but the more I research this type of inj..it seems like a POS. It injects before the blower, and is drawn in by my superchargers boost pressure :notnice: May work but not near as good as a system that inj's by the TB, has a actual pump, and is injected based on the amount of boost I create,starts inj @ 4psi (50%) and then comes on full (100%) at what ever psi i set it to, So if I'm boosting 14psi I will have it come on full somewhere around there. That AFM kit just seems not right inj. before the blower..cause the air will just get all hot again.

The Stage 1 has a 140 psi high volume pumpand a adjustable boost pressure switch where the Stage 2 has a upgraded 140psi pump for incredible atomization 220psi in over 500HP applications. Also a Variable Controller that varies the quantity injected vs. boost (Instead os just a boost pressure switch like in the Stage 1). This allows maximum power at all RPM/boost levels as just the right amount is injected at all times. You have adjustments for onset boost level and full quantity boost level. The variable controller replaces the boost pressure switch and relay included in the stage-1 kit.

Yup, pretty much what he said. In higher boost aplications you need more pressure to atomize your mixture. In some cases with weaker pumps , they are barely able to overcome the pressure in the manifold, but that is like stated, higher boost setups.

Yah you can use the windshield wiper reservior, and actually Matt reccomended it because I asked for tips on a clean install. The only thing you have to do is put the hardware on the supplied reservoir on the winshield reservior.
I havent decided yet..when the kit shows up, I will test fit it in a few places and go with what ever I like best.

:nice: Just some tidbits for anyone interested...

As eades5.0 knows, I recently installed the Snow Performance Stage 1 kit and I am very pleased with it. I also had originally wanted to try the AFM kit, but the more I looked at it, the more CHEAP (as in JUNK) it looked. The Snow kit came in a very complete kit with decent installation instructions as well as some tuning tips. I did the install in about 2-1/2 hours. My car is an 89 GT, but install is pretty generic and straightforward IMO. As for it's benefits, I have ran as high as 31* total timing with my 12psi of overspun (and superheated) A trim boost. My first road test with the kit I experienced a blown set of head gaskets due to the kit shutting off at WOT (5000+rpm's, 31* total timing and 12psi of boost) :bang: This was my fault partially because I had a bad wiring connection that I rushed using a "scotch-lock" connector instead of my soldering gun...rookie mistake on my part as I KNOW better! I also had a set of warped heads from previous (pre-injected) head gasket issues. Even so, until the kit stopped spraying, there was no detonation whatsoever, and the car definitely felt stronger with the 10* higher timing!

Anyway, the heads have since been milled .010" to ensure their flatness, and all injection wiring has been soldered so I am pretty confident that I'll experience no more issues. All I need now is some nerve to start advancing my timing back up to my previous methanol injected setting of 31* total (or more), instead of the present 21* total.

FWIW, eades5.0 mentioned that he sees 200* air discharge temps...yestreday with my newly swapped S trim head unit and 13psi of boost, I saw 112* for my hottest IAT reading on my PMS handheld monitor. I want to disable the Snow Boost Cooler and get a non methanol injected IAT reading as soon as possible, just to see how much of a temperature drop I am truly seeing. As it is, I see usually about 140* just cruising around unboosted, so I'd say without a doubt I'll see a large temperature difference between a WOT uncooled and a WOT methanol cooled blast down the road...

BTW...right now I am running run of the mill Wal Mart brand Windshield Washer fluid in the methanol reservoir and it works fine, just like Matt Snow and Tim Stockwell told me it would. I did pick up some actual methanol at the race track yesterday though and will try that soon.

Well...against my better judgement, today was a nice overcast and cool day, plus I was off work today anyway, so I did some Snow Boost Cooler testing. I managed to bump up the total timing to as high as 29*, up from 21* max without the methanol, and experienced no detonation at all. I did get some "tip-in detonation" (at about 3000 rpm's) but that was easily tuned out by adding a little fuel in the PMS "ACCEL" menu...I'm sure it will take more timing and so far it's pulling harder everytime I add a few degrees of timing.

eades5.0: You can check later on stangtuning.com to see how I am making sure I'm much safer tuning this time around. :nice:
