Miami, Ok
how much power do these things usually put out.

some ricer boy in town bought him a civic with a b16 in it and i hear he wants to race me. I am sure i will even though i dont know what sort of power they make.

what power do they usually make.

LOL, i got walked on the highway by a Vtaaaaaack Civic a few months ago. I caught up with him at a light and asked if he wanted another go from a stop and he said he couldn't pull me from a stop. His interior was bare except for the driver's seat and dash so even with whatever HP numbers he had, he didn't have much car to move with it. I later heard that he runs 14 flat so that's pretty good for an all motor econocrapper.

b16 is slow as balls. what you need is an ls/vtec like me :D

jk...thats still slow too. sell me a black notch back please...somebody
   :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :owned:

But yeah b16 hatchs aren't all that in stock form. Build the motor (I mean high c/r and a REAL build) or boost/n20 it and you can run some decent times, never the less you will smoke his ass if you don't spin to much/ miss a bunch of gears.

Go eat some rice! :flag:

Yeah, you'll smoke him. A coworker of mine has a b18 vtak swapped civic hatch, gutted interior, supposedly has cams and some kind of "skunk" intake manifold and a real exhaust, not just a fart can. I heard they were 170hp stock, the car must weigh nothing, and he knows how to drive, so I was kinda worried, but I walked him bad several times.

A local GSR'd (B18C1) EF ran mid 13s..bone stock. It's probably going to be close.
That's what I heard they ran, and I was convinced I was gonna lose, but it wasn't even close, and my car is nowhere near 13s. Maybe they run that if you know what you're doing, but 90% of the ricers out there don't have a clue.

Wow. A lot of you guys are f'n stupid.

I've seen an EF hatch streetcar (88-91 for the dummies) make over 370hp on motor, on pump gas. A local GSR'd (B18C1) EF ran mid 13s..bone stock. It's probably going to be close.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're F'in stupid, but they might be in for the same surprise i got. IF the car is light enough and your Mustang is as stock as mine (heads/cam) then you're gonna have to win from a stop or not at all because you won't keep up with their top end.

Were not talking b18s or anything bigger, were talking a b16 here. I mean sure it can make power, and the b18s or h20s 22s or whatever the hell they are can make some power, but your run of the mill typical b16 swapped car guy with a big mouth won't run a 13. And if it does run a 13, it'll sound a little different than your typical fart pipe honda.

b18's and b16s pull the same in the top end, the 18 just pulls better out of the hole. ive seen some beast ass hondas, it depends on waht kinda parts he has. if its a real jdm b16 it will be closer than you think. most people take the dual cam vtecs out of 99-00 si's and put them in their cars and call them b16's because they are, there just crappier versions.

I agree, their not f'ing stupid, but they would be surprised. Something that plays a very very big roll in civic engine swaps is the tranny. If they have a crappy tranny their going no where. Every once and a while youll find the people who know what their doing and built it right, but the "run of the mill" engine swapped civic is a poor mexican who cant drive. No offense to anyone im not racist, I may be being sterotypical but its mostly true. My buddy that posted up a few posts, with the hatch b18 ls/vtec, stock, keeps up with me on the street almost dead even till I hit 4th and start pulling.

Not that much difference between a B18C1 and a B16A, gents. B18 makes 170hp, B16 makes 160, both around the same RPM. Transmission is of course a very big factor, as is an LSD. A Civic Type-R, Integra GSR or even an Integra Type-R transmission would be the optimal choice, it's the D-series transmission that makes many swapped vehicles slow. No difference between JDM B16A1s vs USDM B16A1s, but the Civic Type-R engine (yes, the mythical Civic Type-R really existed for the EK chassis) is a B16B2 (up until the k-series, of course), and that one has a 9000 RPM redline, 185hp, etc, etc. If you want a budget ****box, buy an EF chassis (88-91), and bolt on a whole DSM turbo setup. Add a decent tune, and it's running 14.00 flat for less than $1500 (car included).
