I talked to this guy the other day that claimed he got a mustang cobra (which I knew was bull) for $2k with 60k miles on it. We take a look at the car and it's got GT side skirts, GT front bumper, GT rear bumper, pony wheels and only has a cobra wing. First thing we ask is, I thought you got a cobra? He replies and says it is. My friend asks to see the engine and this guy wouldn't let him. He claims the title says cobra on it. I've seen some of the 5.0's have GT/cobra on the title, which means jack squat. I hate morons! Sad thing is, he's a liar! He paid $4k for it and it has 90k miles on it and it's yellow. What do you guys think?

some of the 85-88 GT cars sold in Canada had a cobra decal on the back for some reason. It drives me nuts when someone says they have an 87 Cobra mustang, then I have to be an ass and tell them it is just a GT with a sticker.
Stupid people suck:rolleyes:

Yea I feel the same way when people tell me they have a pre-93 cobra but the Canadian cars are actually labeled cobras. On my insurance it says an 88 Mustang GT Cobra.

Ask someone about the fabled Rudy Package over at crownvic.net ... kind of falls along the same thing. Non-existent performance packages/options on outlandish years/models of vehicles and/or douchebags with more stick-on emblems than common sense.

I get a kick out of the dork I see always parked at the Taco Bell near my job with a perfectly good '96 Mustang GT all riced out with fifty different trim-level badges all over the place. If you followed every badge on there it claims to be, he'd be the only person in America with a Ford Mustang GT Cobra Type R Limited Edition 5.0L ... :D

Never ceases to amaze me...

If you want to call him out on it, you can do it with without popping the hood (even though the rims are a dead give-away) Just look at the VIN #. If the 8th digit isn't a "D", It's not a SVT Cobra (as others have said, it could be a Canadian GT which were called Cobra, but not it's not a SVT Cobra). Here's the link to the info...

The '93 Cobra had the same size front brakes as the GT. The '93 Cobra R had 13" front rotors.

To the original poster: Did he say he had a Cobra R? That would be even funnier if he did.

You are correct. I was working off memory this morning and was thinking the Cobra had 13's. The brakes for the Cobras were:

Front: 10.84 in. (275.4mm) vented disc single piston caliper.
Rear: 10.07 in (256mm) vented disc single piston caliper.

I'd laugh my ass off if he had said it was a Cobra R though... :rlaugh:

Dur, my mistake. I thought i was on the 4.6L forums. I was thinking of an SN95 Cobra, not a Fox body Cobra.
