SS brake lines

Getting ready for the install this weekend. I have a question about the brake lines, do I need SS lines for the rears, or will the standards be fine with SS lines up front. Also, the russell site lists rear brake lines for cobra w/ IRS, mine is a GT, so will the work? Thanks

"SS lines in the front make them stronger. With fluids, it's all about finding a weak spot, because they don't compress. SS in front rubber in rear. Rubber<SS. Rubber will give out first. Not REALLY an issue unless you have some racing to do or repeated emergency stops that could cause them to fail do to the increased pressure from fluid that has no where else to go."

stupid question, i havent seen any advertised for the rears. where are they?

The front are good to do but the rear won't be noticed as much and cost a lot more. The fronts run around $79 while the rears are over $100 and the front brakes do most of the work.
On a benefit per dollar basis, adding the rears just doesn't make sense to me.

I havent found anyone that makes rear Stainless Steel lines... that is why i never changed my lines... i want to get a 4 piece set. Think about it,,,, front are stainless steel rear are not, front wont expand when you apply brakes, rear will... so either way your pedal feel and brake response is going to suffer. I mean it will be better with just the fronts, but there still is a weak part in the whole system.

Who makes the 4 piece lines???

There is no way to change your rear lines. If you take a look at your back lines you will notice that their is only a 3-4 inch section of rubber, the rest is solid metal. Also the rubber section is not bolted in it "crimped" in place, no way to remove it. As far as the fronts go,I was a little disapointed with the results. I noticed a firmer brake feal but not enough to write home about...

personally myself i would go for SS lines all the way around. if u use ur car as a daily driver u wont notice that much improvment. SS are really only nice when u say take ur stang to auto X where the brakes and brake lines will heat up consistantly.
