i see that the stealth has a range form idle to 6800 and the RPM has a range from 1500 to 6500 (not that it matters, i dont see rpms past 4500 lol).

i have a chance of getting a stealth thats slightly used for a hundred bucks.

side note...

which intake would be better then the current Performer 289 but still around the same size? if i can get under 5 inches at the top, that would be good.

By the looks of your cam your motor would LOVE thr RPM air gap

Its a little taller then the performer but should fit under the hood no problem...do you ahve a spacer on the carb?

I had the 1/2 inch nitrous plate with a holley and the ait gap and it fit under just fine

If you can get a stealth for $100 I'd pick it up. I think you'll be very satisfied with both intakes which ever one you chose. I've owned a stealth for several years and I'm 100% satisfied.

I can also vouch for the 6800 RPM's.

no spacer and have clearance issues so i gotta stay under 5 inches. no air gap lol

well the RPM is a good intake....but i have heard nothing but good things about both....

i was torn also about which one to get also lol

im pretty sure the stealth is a high rise dual plane intake

so you think i should pick it up? if it hits, all i've wasted is a set of intake gaskets.

its 3/4 of an inch higher. i will see what i can do wiht my air cleaner to lower it.

How big is your air cleaner? I run a 6" velocity stack on top of mine and the hood shuts.

It's 3/4 of an inch higher than the performer? I have a performer intake, holly 600 cfm car, a 3 inch air cleaner, and an inch spacer between the carb and intake... and I think a have at least an inch clearance between the hood and the cleaner nut.

You need a drop base air cleaner

get a smaller air cleaner? get a drop base? i have the rpm airgap and i have MORE than enough room for a 3" air cleaner. but i guess that's justmy car

buy the stealth intake. dont let that deal pass for 3/4". you can use a drop over aircleaner, or a shorter element if you need to. you motor will like the stealth intake.

going by the specs on both holley and edels. page

stealth:
4.35" 5.59"

RPM air gap:
4.30" 5.50"

im going to try to get a drop base air cleaner and see what i can do with the stealth. should i notice a big difference?

I investigated long and hard on what intake to use on the engine I am having built (351 based) and decided on the stealth. I wish you were closer as I have a 302 stealth you could try as it's just taking up space in the garage.

Do you have any plans for heads in the future? I heard that if you go with AFR heads the stealth is a much better match for the ports which are more oval shaped. Obviously if you were to go Edelbrock heads in the future that's going to be a good port match for the Air Gap's more squarish ports.

questin, does all drop base air cleaners work with all carbs? the thig in mention is the fuel hookup and throttle linkage. will the base go over them?

A good drop base will clear the fuel log and the throttle base.

I have a suggestion for an air filter. Run down to Advance Auto or elsewhere and check out a Holley MaxFlow 360 14" air cleaner, model # 120-102. It has a radically dropped base, a 3" tall filter, and if you wanted, you could put a Hi-Po air cleaner lid on it. It gives you the recommended 1 1/4" clearance between the top and the base for maximum air flow. I originally had one on my Stealth intaked 393w (with Bigs 750DP) and it cleared the stock 65' hood just fine.

I also know of a way to make it drop another 7/16" more, if you don't have a choke horn.

Here it is on my 393w w/ the hipo top. You can also see the chrome fuel log. Even clears my Duraspark.

Dennis am I reading this right? You got a stealth intake on a stroked 351 to fit under a 65-65 hood?

If you did, you just screwed up my plans for a 347.
