Stereo recommendation

I'm going back with my art appreciation class to check out the art museum in SF in about a month also. It's about a 4 hour drive, 3 in the mustang I've been to the ones in Cincinnati and Chicago and loved them. I have some friends that live in Fox plaza. They pay like 1850 a month for their 1 bedroom apartment, it's nuts. I'll ask them for some ideas for you. You'll definitely want to check out the wharf and the GG bridge of course.

I like my JVC Arsenal KD AR-3000. It has an adapter that you plug in the back for a cd changer, but instead you plug in your ipod. I never put a cd in anymore because I have 2gig of music sitting in my glovebox I can access. I think some of the new ones have a usb port up front now too.

pioneer, KenWood, And Alpine Are My Fav's.. And I Buy the Heck out of all there Products... But for my Mustang.. Since i'd Much Rather Listen to the Sound Of The Car ( Better then Any Radio Station, Or Cd). My Mustang Will ForEver REMAIN With a Stock Radio... Im Not Giving Anyone a ReaSon To Break into My Car.. Sure Full Coverage that i DO have Will Cover any Damage and Stolen Goods.. The Only thing i Leave in my Car Over a long Period Of Time is Change in the Ash Tray.. And I only Do that Cuz My Ashtray Door Is Still intact.. Just IMO: Our Car are already Targets To Steal Anyways.. And I Deal with that, IM ADDing a Kill Swith SOON! a After Market Radio And Or AMP/Speakers, Only Gives Some MoRoN a Reason To Steal From Us.. IM Not Typeing this To talk any-one out of Doing anything, But i GRew up On 12" Subs 1100 Watt Amps And The Dopest Head units... But they wont Reach My Mustang.. <--( the only thing in Life i Chairish).. Just My opinion..

I wouldn't ever buy from crutchfield. Prices are way high there. And if you want to go with Sony, you're going against what everyone here has said to do.

I wouldn't buy the Sony in my opinion, they tend to be lacking in quality and durablity. I would look into Alpine, Clarion, or JVC, in that order. Some people have had good luck with Pioneer and they are good as well, but I have had problems in the past getting electronics parts for them if they break. I list those mainly because the are tried and true, companies that make quality products for automotive use.

Below are some examples of what to look at. And for the above mentioned Crutchfield comment.

I have done alot of business with them and would choose them any day over some local shops. Why because customer service is excellent. They give FREE install kits, for most products. Shipping is usally free, low cost, or just a small handling charge. Prices and close to local shop prices, unless they are running a sale. And did I mention, customer service is great!

whatever you're buying + an install kit, if you even need one, is probably going to be cheaper somewhere else. Crutchfield does have great customer service

+1 on the hard to read, i stopped halfway through. well i used to be a stereo guy but i think i've grown outta that by now! i just recently yanked a $6000 steroeo outta my car, and put in a cheapo $120 sony deck ( with mp3 plug in) with no regrets. i mainly did it for weight reduction, but now i also prefer to listen to my engine rather than loud music. i had 4x12" JL subs, 2 alpine 500W RMS digital amps, full color video screen etc.., and i was scared to go to bed every night! i've had 3 stereos stolen over the past 5 years, probably $10,000 total worth of stuff, not to mention the damage they did to my dash, doors trunk, getting in and ripping it out. (several cars) My insurance didn't cover any of it!. not worth it. this the only pic i can find of what i took out, but u probably get the idea. there is 2 more 12's facing forward, and it would open my hatch if i turned it up. i'd just keep it simple. with a cheap deck with the mp3 input, there is no skipping, no need for cd's, and nothing flashy to entice a smashed up stang. go simple if us ask me! - oh and i live in a small town in alberta, believe me - there is always gonna be people who want your **** for free!

The Clarion looks good feature wise and is in my price range. I agree Crutchfield is a good company. Their customer service is great, they provide good support and have a good return policy.
