a 96 to 98 cobra vs a 99+ GT

i've done some searching and found that the cobras are kind of tricky to drive and is capeable of mid to high 13's with a driver who knows what he is doing.

how does a gt stand up to one?

Ummm BS 2 of my buddies have 97 cobra's I race them all the time. NA to NA is a drivers race. Sometimes I taste a lil venom sometimes they get a lil hoof print. And since we have all been building the up at roughly the same rate it has remained the same.
Now having said that. I'd so much rather have a 96-98 cobra over my 04 gt.

Not BS.....its a fact! The Cobra is a little quicker than the GT. There have been a dozen threads over the last few years with drivers from both camps that have proved this. As the original poster stated, the early DOHC Cobra's are tough to get out of the hole with stock gears, which evens things up for the 2V, but where the 2V runs out of steam, the 4V has another 500-800 usable RPM to close the gap. The cars are close, I admit, but as I said all things being equal the Cobra's gonna put .2-.3 on the GT every time! If your buddies were having trouble with you when you were stock, it's because you beat the drivers, not the car.

Not to mention....we were talking STOCK cars here. Not a various bolt on GT vs a various Bolt on Cobra.

The cobra would win and look better doing it, not to mention the 4v just sound sick with some exahust! Go for the cobra, I have been thinking about trading down for a 98 cobra.

Nope we have been racing each other since our cars were stock. We have also been modding them at roughly the same time. Now granted at the current time I am the quicker car but that's just cause I spray passed them.

Also if you noticed I too said I'd rather have the cobra to start with than the 2v. LOTS more potential in the 4v.

I would be highly temped to do so if I found a nice Cobra. Probaly be able to swing a pretty even trade. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my GT... but damn the DOHC 4.6 is one hell of an engine, and not to mention there is something special about a Cobra.

sorry for the repost question i guess. but seems like there are a few stragglers out there who dont 100% believe in one way or another.

since the bolt ons subject came up how about this... doing same mods such as: cold air intake, exhaust, gears (say 4:10s). who would end up on top?

with bolt ons / gears the GT would pull harder out of the hole but lose a lot of it up top when the GT shifts into 3rd the cobra is still pulling hard as hell in second.

Mod for mod cobra will take the cake.

Throw some gears in the kewberah and its bye bye GT
