Suspension gurus, few questions

placing order for some springs tonight/tomorrow.

the torque arm rear springs off mm's site for "street" application.
then some 10" 225 lb springs for the front.

the spring chart on the torque arm intructions states a compatible spring for their "street" rear torque arm springs is 175-250 rating. i figure 225 should be good over the 130 i have now.

any additional suggestions? my qa1 shocks will have to do for now on the back if they aren't up to par. ill see how it feels, im running dry on money though.

this is where all the info im trying to take in, starts to contradict itself.

the mm salesman said my rear springs (h&r race) were almost TOO STIFF for a street car. they are 260-280 lb/inch. i looked up the street and race spec springs per mm's specs and each is 100+ lb stiffer then my h&r.

if i keep the 100 lb +/- ratio that was suggested for front to rear springs, i'd be at a 275 lb front spring minimum, which is out of the chart for a street car. is there chart bull****? i am really trying to research and do this right, i cant afford to gamble with one persons experience, then buy all of it to buy it over again.

i am trying to find a general rule of thumb, but everything is so inconsistant. street springs for a street car that gets raced on the weekend some. i like to take 40 mph turns at 80 when its 3 am and nobody is around. not an autocrosser. more then anything its a driver. the primary push for me to do all of this, was the hyped up ride quality/traction improvement so it was more comfy and i could run a little stronger on the streets.

if i pick up the spring rates listed above, is that a good neutral point? im taking all of your points into consideration/research so nobody be offended.

MM is the plethora of knowledge as well, when they mean street car thats what they mean. Not sacrificing ride quality etc, but who wants to do that? Its not your DD right? Have fun and get whats been recommended. My car has 500/375lb rates and its not unbearable for me as my car is not my DD. go with what MM recommends.

thats just it. i was recommended to keep each spring set of what i have. if i am going for "street" quality ride, i am far softer then what they recommend themselfs. that is what keeps contradicting me. i've talked to two different MM techs and gotten different answers.

i think im just gonna get what i quoted for springs earlier.

Street quality ride can be perceptive. You need to talk to either Jack, or Jason. And make sure you give them the exact[ same info each time. But i can assure you your springs are too soft. What they are hearing is "no i dont autocross it but i take it to the drag strip often, i want it to handle well until then." If they think you arent going to push the car laterally, then they arent going to recommend something you tell them you wont do.

do you think my shocks will end up needing replaced on the back? i might just order some of those too. what the hell, im made of money

you have qa1 shocks and coil overs out back?

i have a qa1 shock and h&r race spring out back. im replacing the spring, im wondering if i should replace the shock too while im at it.

I wouldnt replace it until you're absolutely sure you'll need to

The call to mm today was an expensive one. Ordered the street torque arm springs 250 lb fronts and billstein hd shocks. Think I'm done for awhile now.

i talked to the tech for like 15 minutes. he told me what i was trying to say. he said it sounds like i want a comfortable street car that will get it done at the track and handle well. that describes it perfectly.

so when he said the spring/shock combo, i called my connection and ordered the crap. hopefully installing the torque arm this weekend. the install looks easy, i dont have a welder though
