i found a svo for 2200....it runs and is drivable..all it needs is a fender which the guy has, some rust spots around the rear window and near the sunroof, the interior is ok.it definately needs tlc... im just worried about the rust spots....the drivers seat jiggles, the guy said its because the floor pan has a small crack???what to do? do you guys thinks a good deal,i know these cars are getting rare, and one day will be very valuable....but at the same time it needs at least 1k in body work plus paint....

lol,the guy jokingly told me he had a jet ski........thats why it has a hitch

.i defiantely want it.... but i truly love 87-93 gt's...but i figure if i get this fix it up.... i'll probably be able to trade a gt guy out there...lol....i dont really like the fronts of these cars.....but would nver change anything on a stock svo...
im also trying to find out if 87-93 tailight lens cover are interchangeable.....i wouldnt throw out the svo's but just swap them out cause i like them better...

i would buy that in a heartbeat! check out foureyedpride.com you'll find lots more info and some hardcore SVO-four eye guys. That thing is cherry, i would do everything on the cheap if funds are low, do the body work yourself, paint in the garage, etc.. it doesn't have to cost 1K just to make it look good(looks great already IMO) good luck and i hope you buy it!

They sell replacement floor pans to weld in.

I love '84 SVO's. I'd try to buy it if i could.

Yes GT taillights will swap, but the SVO lights look much better and are far rarer

My buddy had an '86 SVO a couple years back. Fun car to bring to red line and cool to own and show off at car shows, but not much of a driver IMO.

It had a lot of turbo lag, and made next to no power below 4,000RPM. It’s pedals were too close together, the brakes weren't nearly as good as you'd expect and it's handling although much better than any stock FOX body I’ve driven could have easily been bested or at least duplicated by any of the available aftermarket suspension bolt-on's available for the FOX chassis now-a-days.

If you've got a thing for nostalgia, then go for it. If you're looking for a good driver, look else ware.

That's why you get a Merkur :nice:

But yeah i would jump on it. All that handling stuff that makes a fox handle better than an SVO can easily be put ON the SVO too. Also with a few mods (read VERY few) the SVO will hand a GT it's nuts.

Ahhh, but most of that handling stuff is already standard equipment on the SVO, so you're really not much further ahead changing it out again. And the GT that just got it's nut's handed to it by the "tweeked" SVO can easlity take them right back again with a few "tweeks" of it own. ;)

My buddies car made 308RWHP and ran low/mid-13's at the track. Not too shabby for the little I-4, but not overly impressive by 5.0L standards. For all the dicking around and custom fabbing he did he could have easily done the same thing with even the most modest 5.0L bolt ons....and for less money and a lot less headaches too.

I rank SVO's in the same category as Grand Nationals now. Not from a performance aspect obviously, but from a rarity standpoint. IMO it just doesn't make sense to own one for any other reason than collect ability, or nostalgic value. Nice ones are getting harder and harder to find, their rising cost of hard to find parts and 20-year-old technology don't make them really reliable or great daily drivers and buying and beating on one to push it past it's original limits not only kills it's collector value but the results could have been easily duplicated for far less money using one of the half dozen other less rare cars that share the same chassis.

Yeah they're not exactly budget friendly performance, i was just making a sort of benchmark comparison. The magic is in the handling you'll get with the tweeked suspension and the near 50/50 weight balance you get with the lighter engine up front. You won't get that with a 5.0 equipped Mustang. I would get it for the collector standpoint, but then again i also got my Merkur for a daily driver and so far so good.

well, thats the thing,it would be strictly for collecting....its not mint, those pics do it justice. thier a rust spot around the sunroof that is smaller than a golf ball. it got some other rust thats causing pieces to crack...it got 200k on it....parts are definately to hard to find,i can barely find anything for these things. not to mention how hard it would be to fix ecu ****......i really dont know if its for me.....i will probably bite my lip 20 years from know seeing them sell for like 10-20k rust bucket form...lol.......but i really am thinking hard on this...........
