Howdy guys and gals. Was building a 1988 GT but with the amount of body work it needed I was over whelmed and come to find out the frame had been tweaked in previous owner ship. So with a lot of wheeling dealing and a good buddy of mine. I'm trading a used set of cast aluminum heads pre 2001 twisted wedge heads with 1.6 rrs and some 24lb injectors for.. an 89 lx roller. Black racing seats. Full carb system (4 barrel holley). Minimum rust. A pair of Chrome valve covers. Gt40 non p heads. And numerous other parts. I got my aluminum heads free. So I only have 50 dollars in this transaction that was for the 24s. I plan to go carb while I build my efi motor. It will consist of: Gt40 heads typhoon upper lower intake 80 mm tb and mass air meter. Anderson n41 cam Keith black forged pistons in a 306 block. Might fiddle with some harmonic balancing changes like to an internal or maybe just a 28 oz one. Feel free to give me your thoughts concerns or just say hey. I'll be posting pics through the build and would like to meet some people that have a passion for the fox and also have a budget. Nothing like building a race car while broke. Wheel deal buy sell trade lol welp take care yall

What a freakin' deal! Go for it man, not many of us can build a car fast due to money concerns. Post the progress.

Nothing wrong with a carburetor if you know what I'm saying......

Then there are those of us that money hasn't been an issue for at least a year, and we still cant get the car built.

Two things..

How do you know that there is "nothing wrong with a carburetor" until you get it on the engine?

and.

How do you know he knows "what you're sayin?".....About the carburetor....

Dont make no sense..

Ok Mike, though this was a generalized statement, I help you if I can with a little specificity.

Point one meant that using a carburetor in and of itself isn't a wrong idea, not that he might or might not have a problem with his specific carb. that he would be using.

Point two, another generalized saying meant in a "folksy" way to imply that I will be using a carburetor as well and I fell pretty good about it, meaning there is nothing wrong with this choice in my mind. Also knowing that other people on this very site have used carburetors on various unusual engine applications (a 4.6 liter comes to mind) without it being the wrong decision.

I mean, come on Mike, it's not like I told him to put in a digital reading gauge cluster or something wild like that.

Maybe a set of European leather man bags could be added, know what I'm sayin'......

I know all of this.

And who was it that was saying that I was the one that was easy to rile?

Mike, Mike, Mike, I'm not riled. That there is what you call friendly banter to me.

I'm actually in a pretty good mood, I'm going to go work on Doby for awhile.

Pics I will post tomorrow. Here is an update.
Got the fox, its good other than strut towers are a bit rusted. Already have a patch kit. Some good news. Bought a 97 351w pulled it from a running f250 with 145000 miles on it. For then lump sum of 50$. Got a comp came single plain intake for it and a holley 650 dubble pumper. Looking for rrs for my 3 bar gt40s. Have oil pan kit on the way. Need to figure out flywheel and crank deal. Gonna strip motor down and put cam heads intake ect soon as insell my 302's and all the parts I took off my 88. Need about 2500 for this motor. Wanna build a behemoth of a motor. Sorry for the long no reply been a hell of a month. Farm I worked for went belly up but we saved it and now just been working 75hrs a week. Had my first day off in a month and I spent it pulling a motor in a muddy scrap yard with a truck trailer and cheap harbor freight hoist. But I'm back in gear. And ready for a 351 bad mamjama

Building a 351 that you got for $50?

This isn't such a bad idea, just take your time during tear down and really look at things for wear.

Now, your "bad mamjama" (should be "mamMAjama) adjective. What do you mean? Bored and stroked maybe?

Single plane intake? Where in the rpm cycle do you want to make power?

If I can throw anymore doubts and make you question any other decision you've made with your money and what will be your time, you let me know.

Good deal brother, a 351 based engine is the way to go unless you can afford the coyote craziness.
