Switch from AT to a manual?

ok, I have been pondering this decision since the day I bought my car( 2 years ago). I was thinking about switching from my automatic tranny to a manual. I live in Pomona due to college( near Los Angeles) and I drive it occasionaly about 15 miles every week, maybe 30. And when I go home between the quarters I occasionally get stuck in lots of traffic. I just want your opinions about if you really like manuals or really like automatics under the traffic conditions in your town.

dude no, I dont plan to ask for swaping info. I just wanted to see if you people like manuals and it might help my decision in buyin a 4 speed manual. Jeez LMan, if I ever need help with something I search previous posts first.....Then I annoy you guys by asking another noobish question

I changed my C4 to a T-5 even back when it was a street car. One of the best changes you will ever make, IMO. I recommend it without reservation.

I thought about doing it and chose the AOD instead.

If I were going to do it with at toploader I would have but converting to a TKO from the C4 was more than I wanted to deal with.

I realize I may well live to regret that decision though.

If I make the switch it would just be a 4 speed because I dont drive 90 miles an hour down the highway and I dont plan to race( even the occasional ricer stromp). Just out of curiosity what brands are good to buy and where would I look? I dont want to even think about eBaymotors, and I have looked in summit and jegs(both have expensive racing stuff duh), and yahoos searches suck ass.

It is no more difficult to do a 5 speed than a 4. You will regret not having the O/D, since you are going to do the work anyway.


..and, I knew you'd get around to asking for swap info Brands of what? T-5s? WhatchatalkinboutWillis?
