T top stang owner on craigslist trying to pull one over

Well i dont know for sure or not , buti think this guy is trying to pull one over on me. He has an 88 t top for sale, needs paint and trans rebuild, its a 5 speed but he said it grinds and doesnt shift right. but supposedly the car was nice, so i email him asking how much.

4500 Yeah okay buddy. I will attach the emails he sends me, but this is why he says 4500. according to him its 1 of 250 . Here is his email, my reply is the following one.

How did you get 1 of 250, there is no list of t tops produced at this time yet, any numbers that have been put out there have been pure speculation at this point. I dont know if you know this or not, but for future now you know. I dont want somebody not knowing to buy this car thinking its 1 of 250. I am saying that they are not rare NO, they are rare, but not 1 of 250 rare. There has also been speculation that there are 800 of these cars in 88 so. It is what it is, sounds like a decent car, but more than what i want to spend, i just picked up an 87lx t top, it needs paint and a little body work but it runs and drives fine,interior is clean, its just an auto, I will be switching to manual for my stroker engine but i always keep an eye for a 5 speed t top just to make it easier, oh btw i picked mine up for 2200.

We will see what he has to say now....... he will prolly be all pissed off and tell me i dont know what im talking about.

He probably won't care as you both can be wrong. If I'm not mistaken the 88 production run WAS very limited. He can sell it for whatever he wants. I can't stand when people are like 'Oh btw I got mine for $x.xx so HA!"

Like he cares. I wouldn't have paid $1800 for an auto car that needs bodywork.

His needs body work and paint as well, so why dont you read, you dont even belong here, go back to the 94- 95 section

I was not telling him i paid 2200 to rub it in his face, i was tellin him what i paid for a similiar car that has no trans issues. And i never said 88 wasnt a low production car, but the way he so clearly and positively states that its one of 250 is rediculous. There is number, but only presumptions. Like i said they have also said there could be as many as 800 in the 88 year. So learn to read and take it easy tiger

I have clearly stated that i know the 88 year t top is rare,
Im not the one claiming that my car is 1 of 250 and trying to sell it as that. This is not right, he does not know that his car is one of 250. Its a false alegation on his part, and an unsuspecting buyer will be fooled thinking its one of 250, is it a rare car, yes. definately, but ITs also not gnx or cobra R rare, like he is trying to say by passing it off as one of 250
