This "1 of 250" thing is like all these douchebags that think that just because their '04 Mustang has "40th anniversary" badges on the fenders, they've got some kind of "special edition" Mustang. Hellooooooo, just about ALL of the V-6 'Stangs in '04 had those badges!
There was a 40th Anniversary package, but it had stripes, different rims, and a few other little things ... but even then, it's still just a V-6 Mustang, nothing special, and yet these morons on Craigslist keep thinking theirs is "special" and mark their prices up absurdly.There's only two reasons why people do this "rare" and "special edition" crap:
1. They know better, but figure there's at least a few dummies out there willing to pay more for the honor of owning one of these "rare" cars;
2. They're just as clueless as the stupid people that buy these things in the first place under the pretense that they're a "rare" car.

It happens all the time. people will post my car is blue, with white interior, auto no a/c 1 of 500 in that combo. just like a collector on a show said it's still 1 of 1 million, period unless it falls in a certian catagory.

well I wouldnt rank my car up with 93 cobra R's/ gt500kr etc?? NO but as far as options go, you could say an 88 with ttops is rare. Is it highly desirable? you either love them or hate them...but its undeniably a rare option in 1988. And a unique feature of the fox body.
I dont think we will ever find out exactly how many ttops were made in 88, although its known to be very limited wether it be 250, 500 or 800...its worth mentioning...
to each their own, some people prefer hardtops, as do some who perfer verts. T-Tops give you the best of both...IMO.
I wouldnt go flaming the guy selling the car for $4500. Afterall, its an asking price, someone who might offer 3500 if the car was solid overall wouldnt be far off. It should be said that cars like this should be test driven and inspected prior buying (let alone starting a thread about).

Heh, I gotta chime in on this one. First off, it is somewhat hard to find a Fox Mustang in reasonable shape, we all know this, right? Or do we? A lot of folks are trying to pull one over on peeps who have no clue about what they are buying but 1 out of 5 peeps will know Fox's and know what to look for to avoid getting ripped off. I for one can't stand people who say things like "I would not pay 1500 for that car that needed body work"! Well lets get real, our cars are 15 to 20 years old and have seen many owners and have been put through it. Some just need TLC. It's a matter of what that person wants to buy and how much they are willing to spend on it to make them happy. Do a search on E-bay and see what the Fox's go for! I have seen POS Fox's go for 3- 4k that needed all sorts of work! I for one plan to ask 4k to 4.5K for my 87'GT and mine is in great shape, not show room perfect, but in great shape inside and out and not ragged.
