I'm doing a clutch job on a 1988 2.3L, and the throwout bearing retainer on the input side of the tranny is pretty chewed up. I know this is a common problem on the 5.0 T5's, and the steel retainer is a common mod.
Is there such a thing as a steel retainer for a 2.3L T5? The only ones I've seen describe their application as '94-'95 5.0, or '93 and earlier 5.0. I know the '94 and up T5's have longer input shafts, but would the '93 V8 retainer fit a 4cyl trans?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
