I think there was another Mustang II guy that went down this road.... spent thousands of dollars on this path... only to eventually go back to a carburetor, sell the EFI system for a loss, and then in a way too late epiphany, realize his alternator wasn't putting out enough amperage...

Anyone else remember this guy?

Rings a bell....

Took it out for it's maiden voyage a little while ago. It did ok I supposed..... The only issue I've had with it so far is when coming to a stop, more so when I've downshifted - it dies and has to be restarted. I'm not sure if it's some parameter or something that needs attention or if maybe I should turn up the fuel pressure a little. It's set around 50 psi, the system requires something like 43.

Does it have any relevant codes? Stumble at deceleration is usually a vacuum leak. More fun!

No stumbles at all, just dies when coming to a stop. It was it's maiden voyage so I suppose there's some fiddling with a few things to get it right.

Where do you have the idle set? Would increasing it some help? No more bare wires touching things right?

Nope, no more bare wires anywhere and everything is tied up and away from anything, so there shouldn't be any more problems on that front. I still need to make it pretty, but I'm not horribly concerned with that at this point.

I have the idle set at 650. I've kinda thought about bumping it up but it just doesn't seem right. I'm wondering if I have to go through the IAC setup again, maybe it just needs tweaked?

Side note: I've downloaded their tuning software and bought their USB-CAN cable, I'll probably take my laptop out on it's next trip. I know it will datalog, I'd like to figure that out so I can try to see what it's doing when it dies like that - I'd think that that would give a good idea of where to go instead of guessing.

I moved the car yesterday to do some moving/cleaning in preparation of house work. I bumped the idle up to 700 on the handheld, but that's as much as I did. It still shoots too much fuel at start up and takes a minute to get it running, but once it's running it seems to run pretty well. I'm going to have to play with parameters at cold start to tame the initial fuel load, but that will be another day.....

This (Killshot) is the clunkiest system I have ever installed. Instructions don't match reality and contradict themselves. Screen, when first fired up goes crazy and just selects different parameters by itself. PC software is um, let me say subpar. Support is slow to get response and questions not really answered. I must say though, I installed and it fired up straight away (albeit very rich) . Haven't driven it yet.

I've only taken mine out once since getting it installed, but it seemed response enough other than the issues I stated previously. The jury's still out, but I'm hoping it'll get better as time goes on.

ElSuperPinto is dead. The jackwagon that bought it yanked the powertrain and slapped it into a Ranger. I'd have never known, but a friend sent me the listing for the roller asking if it was my old car about three months after he bought it.

OR I could try a spacer and hope that that works, but if it does I'll definitely need a new hood scoop as the current setup won't allow anything taller than I already have. I've also thought about running the current manifold to a shop and having them mill the divider down farther than I already have in hopes that that'll work but there's no guarantees on that. So, I guess I'm at another standstill until I figure out which path I want to take.

Choice #1: Carb spacer and Boss 429 scoop.
Cons: I think the scoop is too tall for the looks of the car and it's probably the most expensive option just making a quick Google search for new scoops.

Choice #2: Buy and try a single plane intake.
Cons: It's still gonna cost me a couple hundred dollars MINIMUM.

Choice #3: Take the existing manifold to a shop and have them mill the divider more than I already have.
Cons: don't really know what it'll cost but I can't imagine it being as expensive as the other 2 options.

What I'm going to do right now is run to Summit Racing in McDonough and pick up a couple 1/2" spacers. I figure that'll give me an idea of what works and what doesn't so I can HOPEFULLY make an informed decision.

So I have an initial plan on the hood scoop dilemma. Since I think a full size Boss-9 scoop looks out of place on a II - it's just too big and doesn't look right. It almost looks like a Rat Fink creation to me.

But I found this one while searching for something that I thought would look good while still giving me adequate clearance. I don't think this one looks as out of place as the other.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on this one on Amazon. It's roughly the same size, but the Cervini's scoop tapers in the back and I think that'll give me the same issue as I already have with my current scoop.

I also went ahead and ordered a new alternator bracket. Having swapped to a serpentine belt I needed something to adjust the tension tighter than I was able with the standard bracket, I think this will do the trick. Jeg's has the same thing on sale now for ~$50, but good old Amazon has a knock off for ~$28.

The scoop arrived today already. Meh.... I think it looks like the first scoop above, too big.

BUT, I guess I'll have to live with it. I may even try experimenting on it just to see if I can make it look a little more proportional. It looks like I can cut about an inch from the overall height....
