They are talking about drafting a law that you lose your license, and get a fine of 1000 dollars for going over 100. What do you guys think of this.

I think its a good idea. I think they should really throw it at you if there are others on the road. Yes, of course, I've driven over 100 on the freeway (in the last month at that) and I still agree, that if pulled over I deserve at least that.

What do you guys think?

Hmmm. I'd have lost my license a couple times tonight...

I hear ya. I do it from time to time. In my own defense, I wait until its 3am and there is no other cars on the road. But still, its no excuse, and if I got busted for it, I'd have to take my punishment and deal with it.

Do the crime, do the time. I think a kid who's only been driving a few years doing 140+ through traffic is worse than a more experienced driver doing 110 on an open road, so, no I don't like how the law blankets everyone under it. What time of day was it? If there was traffic he was weaving through, they should crush his car and make him push the button.

(The record is 159 mph, set in 1993 on the Astoria Megler Bridge.)

PORTLAND, Ore. - An 18-year-old was arrested over the weekend after police clocked him driving 142 miles per hour on Highway 26.

David Skillicorn, III has been charged with four counts of Reckless Driving. The incident happened just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.

A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy was using a laser gun from the overpass on N.W. Shute Road when he spotted Skillicorn, who was not alone in the vehicle.

Two other teenagers were with him. One of them told police he asked his friend to slow down at least four times. Another passenger said she was afraid the car might crash.

Investigators believe Skillicorn may have been racing two or three other vehicles at the time.

Skillicorn is the second person to be clocked at 142 miles per hour this year.

In March, 19-year-old Ryan Champ was busted on Interstate-205 going 87 miles over the posted 55 mile per hour speed limit.

He was sentenced this month to 18 months probation after pleading guilty to one count of reckless driving.

The judge also imposed a $1,000 fine, suspended Champ's driver's license for 90 days and ordered the man to complete 48 hours of community service.

The kid was stupid to be speeding there in the first place. It's a nice flat straight stretch of highway, but that cop is there all the time (never seen him at 1:00AM, but I'm not surprised). I always ease off to 65 or so going through there. Tonight I casually bumped against 100 a couple times on Jackson School Road. Nobody else on the road, just enjoying myself :). It's amazing sometimes how fast this car will make it to triple digit speeds...

agreed... do the crime do the time. :notnice: if you're going to hit the 3dig atleast do it where you know the area like the palm of you hand, yes i said palm :D i once hit 135 in a 35 zone new years night 1am SOBER! stupid of me, plenty of cops looking for drunks. but i looked around and saw nothing. thought what the hell just do it, see how fast this thing goes. i forgot about the spinker substation though. :stupid: like i said i was young. made the left turn from pac ave onto 152nd st e and gunned it. when i got to 135mph i noticed about 3/4mile back lights catching up. thinking hell whoever this guy is he's catching up quick! :p hit the brakes, cut my lights, and rode my clutch into a hard left up my driveway. which happens to be inbetween two duplexes and has an offbeat path for a driveway. trees surround and hide the house so you can't see anything from the road. saw the sheriff speed by no clue as to where i had gone. :D that was to close for comfort.

it was my modded p-body dodge shadow es turbo... all black even the rims that thing was pimp back when i was young.

Oooooo...I had a Shelby CSX-T (number 290 to be specific:))

I loved that car....my only Dodge and the only Dodge I would ever consider buying again. It wasnt the fastest by any means, but it railed!

Congrats Lucas
Hopefully he will do some interviews posing by the stickers :D

cool... lately i've been thinking about adding to my collection like a 1991 dodge spirit r/t. completely stock those had an intercooled 2.2L turbo III dohc, 225hp, 217tq, qtr 14.5@97mph, 0-60 in 5.8sec, and 4 doors to haul the kids in. add a few bolt on's, street slicks, pull up to an import.. :rlaugh: he'd never knew what hit him! just take a look at this guys little spirit r/t http://home.netcom.com/~w.heming/spiritpage.html

god whats with these kids in 4bannger cars going this fast?i know that ive gone simmaler speeds but im alot better now.i just wait to go to the track, last time i went over 100 was in my notch in the middle of nowhere at 2am with no one around and i was only g-techn my car not flying down the freeway.so i thinks a law for this is a good idea

Last time I was any where near those speeds we were coming back from the Bellvue show around 5 years ago. I was racing against a buddy's 93 Cobra and we were slowing back to highway speeds when I felt comfortable enough to look down at the speedo. Not sure how fast we were topped out at, but it scared the chit out of me. Not a very stable car at those speeds :D Although more stable than my 69 Nova was at 120 :p

That law is stupid. If i was going say 105mph and i saw a cop behind me.
Hmmm let me think automaticall if i pull over i am going to get my license taken away and a 1,000+ fine + 48 hours of community service which would be about $1,000 in lost wages.

Ahm no brainer eluding wouldnn't be nearly as bad as a option as it was previously. At those stiff laws you dont' have much else to lose.

So it was an SRT4? I wonder if it was red...

There is some silly red SRT4 that tries to get me to race every single time I see him (which is too often). He never gives up... not sure if he actually thinks he can hang with me, or if he just wants to see me take off. And he always has a couple of people with him in the back seat...
