Teen arrested for doing 142 on Sunset Highway

The fastest I've ever driven any car was 95 out here in Seabeck. There isn't really a nice spot to hit 100, especially for me. However, I've been with my dad goin' around 120 on the freeway. :/ That's always fun.

I love his firebird.

This is pathetic ... we need to show these punks how it's really done. A Mustang should be holding the top spot. Who is ready to sacrifice their license for the cause? Ed?

:jester:

I'll do it, what the heck....haven't had a ticket in like 16 years. I just can't do time in prison, don't want to meet up with someone named Bubba who wants to make me his biotch! :nonono:

Just my $.02 - There ought to be speed limits yes, but not on 3 and 4 lane highways. Better and tougher driver education and safety training to begin with, and no riding in the passing lane unless you are passing (which is actually a part of WA state driver instruction..not sure about being an actual law though). More "autobahn like" driving should be allowed in this country.

Not a good idea. That's just what i want is people doing 100+ down the freeway while stuffing there face with food or talking on there cell phone. Most people can't pay attention to what's in front of them as it is.

WAY too many stupid people driving in this country. Most can't even seem to comprehend the signs that say "slower traffic keep right". Either that or they can't read 'em!

My .02, especially since I got ripped for it on a 4x4 board already.

I have driven that fast, and faster. I have been arrested for 132 in a 25 w/ contest of speed. (Racing my F-100 against a Cougar years ago, when I was 18. I'm 31 now)

I know my Mustang is the most stable car I've driven over 120, but I've also driven a multitude of cars in racing situations in far greater speeds. Does that mean it makes it right for me to speed that fast? No, it doesn't, but I know that me, and a lot of people on this board driving triple digits would overall be a lot safer and more in control, than a teenager with friends in the car.

And as a side note, I would never, ever, drive as fast as I have in the past with a passenger.

Well, I agree with the fact that we as Americans tend to "drive while distracted" That is why tougher driver's training and education should be required. Just like in Germany. on the Autobahn, a majority of drivers tend to pay very close attention to what they are doing and this is because of strict laws and very intense training. Even with no speed limit on some sections of the Autobahn, their per capita safety rate is much better than ours.

:D That's okay Dave! I've changed my mind already. I got a scare a few weeks ago when I pulled out onto Blvd-Hillsdale Hwy right across from the Beaverton Starbucks, it was a little wet and when I turned onto the street I lost a little traction (I think there was some oil on the pavement), gained control, but was pulled over by a very nice Beaverton police woman. She just asked if everything was okay with my car, checked the usual drivers lic and insurance, and let me go. She checked the Mach out very closely and she even asked to look at the engine and had questions on the shaker! WHEW! :hail2:

Had a feeling this topic would be of interest to you :p
