Why on the movie Too Fast Too Furious does the manifold pressure go up as shown on his guages when he hits the nitrous. Is the fake, I have a Nitrous system on my car, tho I have never used it and I am just wondering if mine will do this too. Also kinda a separate question, but why the h*** does he have 3 manifold pressure guages?

The same reason his boost goes up when he hits the nitrous.

boost and manifold pressure are the same, I've been driving the Peterbilt too long, should use mustang terms

Because its a movie

I know alot of people who run nitrous systems, some who run it on the street. The worst case scenario isn't blowing "the welds in your intake manifold", but rather leaning out in one or more cyls and burning a piston ring, or melting or damaging a piston. Seen it happen more then once with people who didn't adjust their timing.

Well then you kind of answered your own question. Does nitrous build pressure? Does it force air into the cylinders?

yes it builds pressure
that's why intakes blow up
n2o expands i think?

DUH! everyone knows that too much nitrous will cause the passenger side floor panel to blow. jeez, get it straight.

I'm not 100% sure but I dont see anyway that nitrous could build pressure. Most nitrous kits have the nozzle inserted into the intake TUBE not manifold. This is before the throttle body, so it is impossible to build any pressure, because any excess would be blown back out through the air filter. Nitrous is simply air with 33% oxygen instead of the 21% found in the normal atmosphere. Again I do not use nitrous so I am by no means an expert, so maybe someone with experience can back this up.

the biggest reason intakes blow up on our cars is becuase nitrous puddles up in the intake and BOOM.

"Puddling" happens when nitrous is injected at too low of an RPM. The air isn't moving fast enough in the manifold, so the nitrous starts to puddle on the inside of the manifold and potentially goes BOOM.

Don't u understand? You need an increase in manifold pressure or else you won't get the flames out the exhaust and make the 3000 people watching you dragrace at 12am go "whoooaaahhh!!!!!". Because thats what it's all about.

but because I am injecting it with a noszle system into the cylinder, i should get no manifold press. I thought he said he had a direct port in the movie also, not injected into the manifold = no manifold press. increase

1- nitrous is not flamable, it can puddle
2- usually the puddling issue is fuel puddling and only on wet system do you get a boom
3- nitrous is not boost, boost comes from forceing air into the engine, SC or Turbo.
Boost forces more air into the engine to be mixed with more fuel to make more hp.
Nitrous is injected into the air intake as a liquid, the simple way to describe is that nitrous adds more air in a denser form into the intake,, additional fuel is added for the increased air and makes more hp. on a wet kit the N2o system adds the proper amount of fuel by the jets you have installed. on a dry system, the computer adds the additional fuel for the amount of nitrous injected.

nitrous gives the same result as forced induction( more technical than that but you get the picture)
remember that most things in the movie TFTF are not real, especially the wheel stand.............
Install your nitrous kit properly and use it , if you have the correct kit for your car and use it like the manufacturer recommends, you will be fine.

u guys are all kidding right? u do know that its the fuel in a wet system that puddles in the manifold. and there is no manifold pressure at all..only when puddling occurs. and only cylynder pressure is increased with nitrous. just wanna make sure, cuz i dont know if ur fudging with the guy or not (forum isnt really known for straight up tech)

yep these guys are right.......puddling will not occur with a dry nitrous system......only when the fuel puddles up, because nitrous is not flamable.....
