hey all.

Background
i had a very interesting weekend. I drove home from college because i had some side work to do for an ex boss of mine, doing some landscaping. i was going to use this money to buy a new radiator for my car. The current one has a pinhole leak in it right in the middle of the car. So at speed, or when the fan turns on, coolant goes absolutely EVERYWHERE. the front half of my motor is green lol. the bottom of my hood is caked in it too. pretty awesome.

Well, i got in it on saturday to go finish up what i couldnt get done on friday, and heard the most horrific noises coming from the suspension. then i went for the brakes, and the pedal went all the way to the floor with very minimal braking. afraid for my life, i drove it immediately to a shop to see what the hell was wrong with it. They called me back and had a laundry list of things screwed up on my car, most of which i knew about. The biggest and most important one that i didnt know about, though, is that my front left coil spring SNAPPED IN HALF. the bottom half of the spring is turned 90 degrees from where it should be, perpendicular to the top half. that corner of the car is riding low. and apparently the weight of the car falling onto my super awesome self-lowering spring has screwed up the anti sway bar link or something. I was absolutely appauled. See my sig for the 2 other cars i have in my garage. theyre both much older, and im pretty sure at least ym truck is riding on the stock springs. Anyways, that absolutely blew my mind. The shop wants my left nut as down payment, assuming i'd also give them my firstborn child to fix it, so i told them to put it all back together and that i was going to come by with a rented trailer and tow it home. mission accomplished.....time to start buying parts!

Cliffnotes
Cars busted time for a new one!

Just thought i'd share my crazy weekend. Has that happened to anyone else?

How exactly does one break a coil spring w/o a cutoff wheel?

As far as the car being broken and replaceable....I don't see why you couldn't fix it.

Thats some crazy **** though. hehe.

When doing my spring swap my drivers side front broke while pulling it out. It had rusted. I am glad I swapped it out when I did.

i was kidding. i love my car. its just going to be down for a while so i can do some much needed repairs to it. Ive kinda neglected it this winter since its all i had to drive at the time. i guess it had finally had enough lol.

I intend on doing all the chassis strengthening, suspension, and 5 lug swap stuff this summer.

lol yeah i know. i really did myself in for this summer. thats just the way it goes when youre in college, sometimes, though. Didnt have the money or the garage space to have it all torn apart. but when i go back home i can use my moms garage lol. Be glad that youre fortunate to have the income to do this hobby properly.

I just changed my front springs in my 88 a few weeks ago, they were broken in 3 spots. And I just bought some new shocks and springs for the rear they are rusted out big time. So broken springs is a pretty common thing. I say buy some good used springs and get them installed.. Summer is coming enjoy the weather, fix it in the winter
