The Official MACn89blckstng Progress Thread

I have pics up in here of the dash installed an everything. As soon as the wiring is done. I will be putting the dash back in, checkin that everything works and then I'm gonna fire it up. Then I'll paint the dash and center console and then they should be in for good. The door panels aren't gonna be done til the car is painted and all that nonesense.

soooo I hit a little bump in the road. I've been buttoning everything up to get this puppy started. Made my intake studs for the upper intake and barely tightened the upper down tonight and sure enough, this happened.

So I'm going to try to locate a new Explorer/Cobra/GT40 upper intake. Unless I can get someone to weld it. I hope I get some luck with it, and I guess I'm not gonna get this thing started anytime soon.

man, little setbacks like that really suck, i hate when everything major is done on a project and the little nickel and dime **** just runs your pockets dry...

i know it's easy for me to say, but now would be the perfect time for a tubular GT40 intake, i think one of them powdercoated to match the top color of your engine bay would really pop and tie the whole thing together, but what do i know :D

in any case, stick to it man, summer is just around the corner :nice:

I would love a tubular gt40 but they are pretty esspensive. I found a few local intakes for sale, one being a explorer upper and one advertised as a GT40 intake for 150 bucks. So we'll see if its tubular, and if it is, I know I'll be gettin a sick deal.

yea, I'd love to get the tubular one and paint it base clear. But alot of people call all the explorer/cobra intakes GT40 intakes. I'm waiting for a call from him today. Maybe she'll fire up next week!

All the brackets are stock. Jim that sucks hardcore, that would have been sweet but oh well. My girlfriends brother is going to bring it to his work to try to weld it and mill it flat. We'll see.

Funny you say that, I got my intake welded by a close friends job for free so thats done, just have to bolt her up (and hopefully it doesn't crack again) and were good to go, I got the power steering stuff all mounted and hooked up, as well as my sick power steering cooler (its a little overdone but it was free). lol. I tested my fan wiring and I got the fan wired up nice and well with a temp switch kit from Be Cool (185 on 165 off). Im gonna top the fluids off tomorrow after work and fire her up if everything goes well. Pics and vids should be up tomorrow night after the nights festivities!

So she started, had a bunch of problems because of my impatience and bein all nervous. Its got a miss which may be a bad plug wire, or a faulty injector. But its alive and didn't blow up yet. The videos aren't worth posting so I'll just wait til i get it running right and then I'll post some up.

Here are some pics of my homemade Powerpipe I fabbed up out of 3 inch tubing today, just gotta grind the welds and do a lil body work to make it look seamless. I like how it looks and should help this thing suck in some colder air. Also, a quick pic of my over done power steering cooler, I had this lil trans cooler laying around so I figured I'd put it to good use.
