Saw a friend at Knotts cars show, and he asked us if it had been dynoed yet. When we told him no, he offered 2 pulls at a very special price. Couldn't say no.
We'll try for a picture. Other than the drip pan that smacked his car head on at 70mph, it was a pretty good day.
First spin it only put down 380hp/450/tq @ 4200. Tires started spinning really bad. Enough to were I guess it almost looked like a burn out. Wish I coulda seen that, but was busy staring at the LM-1. On the way to the dyno, we made a pull on the freeway and it showed a rock steady 10.7 to 1. So when we got there, Rich took out a jet. I was hoping to see what one jet would do, but the LM-1 showed 10.4 on the dyno, even after taking a jet out. Dyno said as low as 9.9 to 1, but LM-1 was different. But there was fuel coming out the back either way.
Second was a little better. I got my fat ass in the trunk with another guy that weighs like 260, and they still spin. It did get a little better though. 400/503, again @4200. Dyno operator said he was creeping up, and it would spin the tires as soon as he would go WOT. They would spin, and he would back off. So both HP and TQ peaked at 4200. Cam should should stop at about 63-6400. Who knows what it coulda done. Figure even if the TQ was done, the HP should have kept going, at least for a another 2k or so.Eh, 9.7 to 1 CR, and 18 deg of timing, and 7/11 CA pump gas.

Very nice work. Was it a single roller or dual roller setup?

I assume you had drag slicks or at least drag radials on the car?

That happens a lot with high HP, boosted applications.

Was actually four. One in front and back of each tire. You sit between them. The straps don't hold the wieght down though. It just keeps you from going anywhere. We may try another dyno where it straps the weight down to the rollers. Almost 600 lbs on the trunk and 315 Nittos weren't enough.I would really like to know where the true peaks are.
68fb, it's caltracs and ranchos in the back. But no wieght transfer on a dyno ya know ?

The torque numbers are sick.

I rememeber when i dynoed my car about 12 years ago with the 289 it smoked the tires on the dyno too, i thought it was cool Im guessing from no weight in the back since it only put down 305 HP

I would think that is a little too much fuel, not good for the rings/bore, maybe? Damn good numbers

Nice numbers! That torque should be stupid fun.

You basically only get a dyno run to 4200 rpm. The torque may go up some more but the HP could go way up from there. Get the air/fuel dialed in and you will have a monster.
When do you plan to take it to the strip to get some track times? I hope you have some slicks bec. it doesn't sound like the Nittos will be up to the task. Is the car legal to run under the NHRA 11.50 guidelines?

it's legal for 10.49 when he gets seatbelts.
It is rich, but we never could get the tires to stick. so I never got an air fuel reading at 6k. I didn't know if it was leaning out or not. Now that I know it's not, time to take jet out.
He's gonna take it to a local antique drags here. He wants to beat up some classics. That was his response when I asked him why it mattered when and what track he split the block at.

I was able to be there for this pull, and it was crazy. Yeah, it was a bit rich. But that is the safe approach.

Killer numbers...

Kudos.

I take it, that this is a blow through set up. Is it a homemade carb, CSU, etc? Is there a thread that talks about the engine? I have a T76 set up, that I could use on my 66, but not too sure if I really want to do that.
