there are a few kids at my school, who are so annoying. one of them drives a old 90's civic hatchback with a vtech that he thinks is so fast . today him and his friends come up to me and are like mustangs suck and i asked why he thinks that and he told me because he watched his friend with a civic with a stock b18(which i have no clue what that means) walk all over a mach 1. then the really funny part was he told me a corvette and a gto were to scared to race him once because of the way his car sounded. i told it was probably not that they were scared of racing him but they probably didnt want to waste their gas racing something that they know would lose. anyways to continue this kid thinks his car is so fast that it is annoying. i even told him yea ill give you the credit that it is faster then most other civics, but its not faster then a gt. ohh and btw the kid is to scared to race my friend everytime we wanted him to race my friend in his gt he would come up with some bs excuse.
sorry for the long and useless thread i just think ricers are so stupid that it is funny

The "stupid, annoying kids" are both right, and wrong to tell you the truth.

B18 is one of honda's engine codes. For simplicity and argument sake, the most common engines used in honda's until maybe 5 years ago were the B16, B18 and H22. The B16 came in the Civic Si and Del Sol. B18 I think just in integra's, and H22 in the Prelude. Just FYI, depending on what year mustang, a civic hatch with a B18 (V-Tech anyway) motor swap just might hand a mustang GT its ass, or hang with a lot of stock ones at least.

Now, I have no respect for stupidity, but I have had quite a few "imports" give me a beating (at the track guys, no worries). Given, I have beat up on far more imports at the track than those that have beat me, there are some fast ones out there.

no i dont own a mustang unfortunately because i just turned 18 and it has taken me forever to find a job but i found one and i am working on getting a stang i just am on this forum because i have a few friends here and i like to see all your guys cars and read your post and i have no room to talk because i drive a 4 cylinder and i know that some japanese cars are fast and the fast ones are usually the ones that arent riced out they are usually the more normal looking ones but i am just saying this kid will never race my friend who had his old engine in his car.
and dragstr05 thanks for the information i honestly dont know much about japanese engines or cars at all i never really cared for the sound of a 4 cylinder lol even if some of them can take a v8 they will never sound like a v8. but im pretty sure this kids is early 90's like 91-93 ish and i only talk about his car because im friends with one of his friends that isnt so biased towards japanese cars he will admit whats fast and what isnt and from talking to him the civic always has a problem, and he has the whole thing gutted inside down to one seat and he still wont race

People are like that, just the way it is.

Ricers base the quickness of their car off of how many movies their make/model has been in

lol yea once the first fast and the furious came out it got really bad they really started to think theyre cars were fast. what i like the most is tryin to explain to a stupid kid i know that his civic cant drift. he refuses to believe me tho
btw i am in high school still that is why i associate with so many people who drive civics

forgot to mention one thing the kid ran his car in the quarter mile about a year ago and the fastest time he got was mid 15's and i told him a stock gt runs about mid to low 14's depending on the driver yet he still thinks he could take one. can someone explain that one to me:shrug:

Every ricer I know subtracts like a second or two from his actual quarter-mile time. I love domestics, but I also have love for imports. I like cars. However, when I meet someone like that, I just usually ignore them or go along with it.

I'm not above defending imports to people who bash them though.

I remember cruising along the highway on my way home for work last year and this early 90s corolla lowered with a huge fart can and euro lights passes me and the guy turns his flashers on and sticks his middle finger out the window. Do these guys think passing a car on the highway is racing even though the other car is just cruising along. I guess that's the only way they can win. That kid probably told all his ricer friends his 90s corolla beat a mustang GT:rlaugh:

I used to get the ricers revving at me and trying to race, but since getting the Cobra R hood and large intercooler up front, they haven't wanted to play :)

There was this one civic hatch that kept trying to get me to race on the way home from the movies, but I ignored him. I'm sure I could have beaten him without ever using enough throttle for the trans to unlock the torque converter, let alone downshift out of overdrive.

I raced a CRX with a B18 motor and it hung with me pretty well. I may have had a half a length on him in the quarter. Same with a Tiberon. The thing about the CRX though is it doesn't weigh but about 2500LBS soaking wet so it will run like a scalded dog with a decent motor.

I find this thread somewhat ironic.

I had a '89 CRX HF (great car, drove it for 13 years). While it had the standard 'plant in it, not the B18 lump (the real one you'd want is the B18C, the one from the Integra Type R), it weighed in under 2000 pounds. If you put the B18 (170hp, from memory) in a 2000 pound car, it's a pretty good power:weight. Granted, the torque won't be there, but you *can* have a pretty quick car with that formula.

Most people that've done motor swaps in the CRX/Civics from the early-mid 90s (91 was the last year of the CRX), use the B16A, which is the 160hp, 1.6L motor from the Civic Si. But I will admit, I haven't followed that scene for a couple years. I'm sure they're shoe-horning B18s or even K20s in them now, which is pretty awesome.

I'm a fan of anything that is fun. What I can't stand, is the trash talk from both sides.

Having owned Hondas/Acuras before getting the Saleen, I can still say they're fun. I'd buy another RSX-S, in fact, if I had the cash for one.

There's some running around with built K20A (the RSX-S, 2.0L motor, 210hp on the newest ones) with turbos on them, putting 300-400 to the ground. Having owned one myself, I think that's beyond the practicality of a street-driven FWD car. The torque-steer would be a bitch. It had it's moments in stock form (moreso on the Integra than the RSX).

Point being, just because it's "rice" (I absolutely hate the term), doesn't mean it's crap.
While I seriously doubt the CRX in the story put the fear of god into a Corvette/etc, it could probably hold it's own aginst other cars.

Maybe I'm just too modest/humble of a person, but I can't stand trash talk.

I'm sure I'll be raked over the coals for this, so be it. The whole "us vs them" thing is getting old.

Whenever I have someone "revving" at me, at a light, I interpret that as them wanting to hear it roar off the line. Case in point, the last one was a F350 crew cab, pulling a grain trailer. I let him go, then hit the gas. It got a fist pump from him.

I don't see how anyone could interpret that as wanting to "race".

i had a similar incident once. i turned onto a 2 lane street and accelerated normal, shifting at 3000rpm, and the kid in a Prelude behind me who also made the turn passes me slowly with his engine screaming, cuts in front of me, and turns on his blinkers. i guess he's mad fast cause he beat me in my Focus when i was shifting at 3000rpm. and stopped accelerating at 55mph.
