I think the term rice refers to 90% of the db's out there with chopped springs, baskin robins paint jobs (31 flavors), and euro tails.

An import on the other hand is a well put together machine that will run. There are a few very fast imports around here and they look stock. An 11 sec awd turbo talon comes to mind that until recently still had the factory hub caps on it.... Just don't pay attention to the front mount..

So with that said, there is also idiots in the stang crowd here as well. We have more than our fair share of db's as well. Hell, anymore you see as many riced out stangs as anything else..

Lets not even get started on Ls motors as they are touched by the hand of god......

When I was a kid i had a 88 Corsica with a 2.8L v6. I used to think it was fast until my friend brought his dad's 1990 something Booick Century with a 3.8L

I would completely agree with this. There are many different ways to have fun too. The only other thing I would add, is that I can't stand ignorance, from both sides.

On the fun side, there is something that is great fun about driving a slow car fast. When I first got my 2.3, it was slower than nearly anything else on the road. I put on a long tube header, increased the compression, and added a cam. It was so much fun running through the rev band, hearing the engine and banging gears... though it was still slower than your average Neon. It was still fun and I'm glad I did it, but I never believed it was fast. This is the fun that those with hondas have.

I think everyone should be realistic about what their car is and know something about the other cars out there. I can't stand honda owners that think their beater civic is hot $#!^ and faster than most mustangs AND I can't stand mustang owners that think the V8 is the end all, be all of anything performance. Open your eyes and look at what else is out there. Do something unique and have fun with your car, but do it with some knowledge of how the systems interact and how everything works together.

I like seeing civics with engine swaps. That's more work and more creative than what most mustang owners here do. Anyone can buy bolt on parts and install it themselves or have a shop do it. But how many of you can actaully do and engine swap and make everything work well together. That's true hot rodding.

Being a guy who owns a heads/cams GT and a big turbo Evo I can say that there are idiots on both sides of the fence.

Like big idiots. I've had people in Mustangs try to race my evo in the rain, and I've had civics with fart cans try to race my gt (lol).

yea i will admit im kinda ignorant im a huge domestic fan and i favor them completely but i do have the balls to admit that there are alot of fast imports like gtr's integra's evo's etc.. and there could even be some 9 and 10 second civics that will walk all over an 04 cobra, im just really biased towards domestic for other reasons i like the looks of them and cant get over the sound of a v8

Sorta along the lines of Chris Rock but not in so many words...there are Imports and then there are ricers. Nobody likes Ricers and I've learned to stop paying attention to them over the years. You can always pick out a true ricer because they think they can polish a turd not to mention they are going full bore from a light while you're giving it quarter throttle and keeping up with them if not edging them out to the next light.

I still crack up at the looks on their faces when a honey-bee vibrating weed-whacker ricer would rev it up next to me and then I would volley their serve with 6k rpm of Mustang aftermarket exhaust.

I suspect that when I get my car back with LTs and Comp Cams installed I might not even be able to hear they any more any way.

There's a low-11 second civic hatch running around out here that would look stock except for the large front-mount and wide front tires lol. There's also a mid-11 second Buick Regal with a custom turbocharged 3800 engine in it. That car is awesome, and is completely stock-looking and sounding (until he opens the electric cutout haha).

Well I must say this has turned out to be a good little thread! Let me share a couple stories! About 2 months ago I'm in my stang just innocently driving home from work, and I'm at a stoplight and a couple of high school-age kids in either a Talon TSI or an Eclipse GSX (not sure which) that looked a little ragged; pull up next to me and start piping it. I look over and I'm just kinda thinking "O.K.?". The road we're on switches from 2 to one lane right past the light, and they're in the right lane and so they gun it and swerve over into the single lane........ right in front of a city bus, which narrowly avoids hitting them! And then just a few minutes later I'm on the same road and I look to the the right and see them sitting in an empty parking lot, and the kid in the driver seat sticks his arm out the window and gives me a big thumbs down signal!! They actually sat there and waited for me!! God, what did I do? And check this out...Today I went to pick up my kids from school and when we got home and were getting our stuff outta the car...I heard a honk and then a beefy motor sound and when I looked up I saw a school bus stopped in the road and then a black LS1 Trans Am speeding by! That guy must have not even stopped for a bus that was dropping off KIDS!!! There are some complete IDIOTS and SCUMBAGS out there who shouldn't even be allowed to drive!Always be on the watch for them, they're in all sorts of vehicles, not just imports.....and yes unfortunately there's even some stupid idiots in stangs out there....poor stangs.

Hey man, I have no problem with legit foreign cars that are making good power. I just hate the d-bags that drive ugly a** slow foreign cars and talk chit. I am a car enthusiast and though I prefer domestic cars, I can certainly appreciate and acknowledge a nice car when I see it. What I cannot stand is the idiots that live near me with their 15+ year old hondas and toyotas that have unpainted aftermarket bumpers and loud fart cans that rev at me and try to race anytime I am at a stop light.

You may think it's pathetic that I laugh at ricers because my car is just a measly little NPI GT, but I think it is more pathetic to talk chit to other drivers when you are driving a POS old car with body parts falling off. I take pride in making sure my car looks and runs well and I dont really care if someone else's car is faster than mine. IMO my car is better looking than any car ever produced overseas and any time I am having a chitty day my car cheers me up. Isn't that what this is about anyways?

I'd also like to add that to me someone who drives a well modified EVO, WRX, or Honda is not a ricer.

i am just like him to me i just like domestics better even if i know that there are faster japanese cars i like the way a domestic car looks over any japanese car, and i also understand there are db's in domestics too like those people you see in 6 bang stangs or even gt's that are swirving in and out of traffic with no blinkers and cutting people. i know i dont drive like a grandma but i do get pissed when people drive like retards because it is stupid and not even worth the hassle.
one thing i am impressed with japanese imports is my friends turbo charged 300zx that thing suprised the hell out of me. it is old and kinda beat up but we went for a ride and that thing pulled through every single gear, and i mean it pulled hard i know that would have went head to head with a gt maybe even beat it i know i should have expected it because turbochargers are insane but all i have to say is damn.

What about at the light when you pull up and ask them if their car is even on? They love that I hear.

Aholes drive all cars. Most hard core import fans that actually run good numbers at the track and are a little older, are just as friendly and nice to talk to as other auto enthusiast. You get all walks of life that talk smack in all cars. I love chatting with all car enthusiast at the track, that's have the fun of going to the track. Kids in school showing off how much testosterone they have is another story. I remember those days. Best advice, don't worry about others and just enjoy your ride.

I totally agree. However, in my experience the a-hole drivers that actually talk chit and have nothing to back it are driving japanese cars with unpainted bumpers and loud exhaust, or v-6 mustangs/camaros with altezza's and chrome trim around the wheel wells.

I have given and received plenty of praise from people driving both domestic and import 4 cylinder cars (SRT-4, Cobalt SS, EVO, and WRX to name a few), and again I will state that tastefully modded cars IMO are not rice.
