hey all,
i cancelled my order on my rims, cause i cant make up my mind, and my turbines have almost new rubber all the way around for less than the cost of one single rim lol....so now i got a few extra mustang bucks and thought about a tb upgrade....thing is im pretty sure im about the max hp for my injectors with my mods, and i think the a tb would be pushing it? it would be between a tb upgrade or maf conversion(which i have no desire to do) and bigger injectors..... but i dont think i need bigger injectors either:shrug:... the good thing about the maf upgrade would be future mods. the tb would be the last of my speed denisty allowed mods and would be easier of a job(not saying maf conversion is hard) just a tb install is 100% no brainer mechanical...... anyways what do you guys recommend maf conversion or TB and what size tb is a good match for my combo and not an overkill that matches up good with the gt40 setup....

Both! I would go mass air first and get it out of the way. My car ran so much better after i had it done. Any soooo much easier now with future upgrades. Just make sure you get a larger MAF while you are at it, becasue if you get the stock 55mm MAF and down the road upgrade the TB to a 70mm, you jsut created a bottle neck at the MAF.

exactly the maf upgrade would only set me up for the only mod left for me.....
and that would be a supercharger! that would be cool cause i would be kissing the 400whp mark, but also need to convert bigger injectors....but invest all that money to forced injection :notnice: i would rather go NA and put down 400hp:rolleyes::D(sigh one day:rolleyes:)

but to say MAF would make the car run better as of now would really be like 5hp vs. 4.8 hp.... (for lack of better ways to explain)....

so a 65 mm matches up to the exploder port nicely and will my intake pipe/ coupler fit over the 65mm tb. what is the stocker 55?

80mm?!? I hope that's a typo, because that is some serious overkill...

Don't forget to upgrade to a bigger EGR spacer when you get a bigger TB, as well ... or see if you can bore out your stock spacer to match.

I would say go with a 70 mm TB/EGR plate. You won't get a huge improvement out of it right now but it will give you a solid foundation for further upgrades.
Edelbrock would be my choice; or Accufab - though i don't have any personal experience with their products myself.
And sorry, you are nowhere near maxing out your injectors horsepowerwise with your current setup.

i was also looking to a electric fan,but that would require a already needed alt upgrade, but im not sure if it would be worth it to me, and besides call me crazy but i like the stock look of a plastic shroud fan

suggestions....i do need/want som lower control arms and subframes  but i really dont have anything else engine wise to mod...

Well I know of one thing. ;)

These are all things that you should keep on your "to do" list. Rear control arms were night and day when i had them done, no more wheel hop. Depends on your priorities.

I agree the alt upgrade is also key. My stocker with underdrives was soo underpowered. The headlights would dim at idle when driving at night. Forget about doing an electric fan without doing the alt upgrade first.

All these things are great ways to spend money and very annoying becasue you don't really get any power from them, but if you plan on keeping the car it's part of building your solid foundation.

I got my explorer 65mm from a junkyard for $10. A slight modification and it was usable on my 5.0

No doubt, I'm all for something like that. It's the 200-300$ that most spend on TB/Spacer kits that gets me. I guess that 2-3hp and stiffer spring is worth it to some people. If my stock TB didn't start leaking like crazy, I'd still have it on my car, they aren't worth the gain unless you are building more serious engine combo.

I'd buy the 3G or spend the money on other places on the car.

suspension is where its at IMHO. you already have the top end re-done. either do a 3g swap or start upgrading the suspension. you will see more from a built engine when you arent smoking the tires.

There are really good deals on rear control arms. I actually had the shop do mine when i had them install the subframe connectors.
The alt is pretty easy, but i did have to shave off part of the factory bracket to make it fit.....was part ofthe instructions.

Not sure if you did this but gears are a good upgrade that you can feel.

well i am going to do lca and subframes next.
but as far as the engine goes i guess just a 3g upgrade....
anyone know how to do this for cheap. i have a 95 5.0 alternator that is good ( i kept it for no reason!) i just need the wiring but i am scared of messing up or making my own jimmy electrical. do i just need 4 guage and and a 200a inline fuse?
