Setting Timing on a 94-95 car is the same as the earlier foxes right? Pull spout, set timing put it back in.

I am having a hard time setting timing on a car that seems to wander a lot when I am trying to dial it in with the spout out. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something....lol

Nope, that's all there is to it. I have a hard time setting my timing too. The line I have marked for 10* seems to move around a lot when I'm trying to set it.

I had the same issue when I ran my 94 at the track the first time to get some base numbers. I would set the timing and make a run, then get back to find the timing all off by like +/-5*. I had brougt a new cap and rotor with me and swaped that in at that time and reset the timing to 14-15* and it stayed there. Also just with this new motor I had the issue again but with a new cap, rotor, and harm. ball. It ended up that the dizzy hold down bolt is just a pain the arse after full removal and would somehow wedge to get a "tight" feel but let the dizzy turn after shutoff and re-start (to check the timing after a restart I found is a quick way to check before un-hookeing the light/gun). I had to turn the bolt and wiggle the hold down and after a lot of turning and flipping of the 1/2 wrench got it and it stayed set. The dizzy even stayed somewhat tight when th bolt was loose my guess is from the wedge action of the bolt/hold down until it was moved by the engine. I redid the bolt alittle the first time and then grabbed the dizzy by hand real hard and twisted it loose (it took some force but not like trq. a head bolt), thats when I was like Ahh Haa.

Rick, you are smarter than I, butI will try anyhow. :)

Is the timing chain new?

If you mean the setting wanders after having driven it some, I have read more than a couple threads where people report the same issue. The SN dizzies were a lot more prone to issues/failure (my thoughts, based on the number of SN folks who have had dizzy issues, compared to fox III's).

If you go to check the TFI, it is on the pass fender under the inlet tube (I know you know that - just checking). :)

Take care bud. :nice:

You do know that our spout is located near the MAF, right?

Just checking. I almost made the same mistake because there is a wierd connector near the dizzy but that isn't the spout.

I know where the TFI, spout etc are located..lol

I just finished the brand new 331 stroker with a V2 on it. After banging my head against the wall all night I decided to pull the computer down, long and behold it had a SUPERCHIP in it. I was never told the car had a chip, sure made tuning the blower a bitch.

I wasn't happy to say the least but Idid my issue. Car runs perfect now, timing is dead nuts and doesn't move, advances and retards correctly! :nice:
