What is the biggest tire i can fit on a 17x7.5 in rim. And what if i was to get a 18x9 inch rim what would be the biggest tire i could put on that. I would like to have 245 on front and 275 on back.
Usually it is the section width of a tire that determines the rim width that can be used. Assuming the aspect ratio you want is a sport series the 35 to 50 A/R range the 245/45R17 is widest tire that is approved for a 7.5 inch rim. The 275/35R18 is the widest tire that is approved for a 18X9.0 rim.
Usually for 18" tires the 285 tires are 285/30R18 which by Tire & Rim Association require at least a 9.5. I do not believe you will run into a problem if you want to use the 9.0 rim. Heck I am running a 275 tire on a 8 rim that the tire should be on a 9.
