tire size on Turbine rims

How wide can you go on GT turbines? I'd like to go with a wider point of contact on the road. A new set f rims is not in the budget right now.

About 245x60x15 is the widest you can get without causing the tread surface not to dome up. Stick with H or higher speed rating or you pony will wobble like an drunk in a stiff wind on tight corners.

Now see...you're going to run into a problem with either of those sizes…

245/60/15 is fine, but is considerably taller than you stocker and as such is going to tame your bottom end some….not to mention the taller side wall is going to affect your handling as well. 245/50/16's are on the other hand is shorter than you stock tire height and is going to have the opposite affect and will likely not work any better for traction since it’ll be easier to break the shorter tire loose and it ends up throwing out your speedometer calibration as well. Most I’ve seen are going with the 255/50/15’s. You may have to turn your quad shock around, but It rides at the same height as the stocker and handling shouldn’t be sacrificed too much and you should still put down a fairly square tread pattern.

I used to run 235/60/15’s on mine with good results. A little taller than stock, but not too tall that it killed bottom end or threw out my speedo considerably, and the added benefit of a little extra tread width to boot.

actually the 245/50r15 ia actually within 1/4 inch of the 225/60 r15 tire. my friend had the 245/50 on his 88 and my old 88 had the 225/60 and they were within 1/4 inch height diference. both size tires were bfg's

Actually, you're incorrect. There is nearly an inch difference between the the 225/60/15's and the 245/50/15's. All be it that different manufacturer's differ slightly in size, but there is a considerable difference none the less.
225/60/15 = 25.63 inches
235/60/15 = 26.10 inches
245/60/15 = 26.57 inches
245/50/15 = 24.65 inches
255/50/15 = 25.03 inches
265/50/15 = 25.43 inches
As you can see here, the closest to the stock ride height would be a 265/50/15, but beyond the 255 sizes, the bulge in the sidewall would considerably affect handling...not to mention the bow in the contact patch would end up working against you, rather than for you.

I still recomend either going with the 235/60's (my choice), or the 255/50's.

I have 275-50-15 BFG Drag Radials on ten holes. Fit fine, with a coil cut out of the springs....

I’m not saying they wouldn’t fit, but on a 7-inch rim, but they do bow in the center of the contact patch reducing their effectiveness. I bet you’d do just as well with a 255/50 or even 235/60. Not to mention it makes the handling ***** for street use. Too damn much sidewall flex.

Would i get even wear on my rear tires with 255/50/15's? Or would they buldge too?

Your tread wear won't be optimum, but it should still be relatively even as long as you aren't over/under inflating. The bulging is mainly from the sidewall deflection. It’s not an issue while going in a strait line, but it increases the lateral, side to side motion between the edge of the rim and the pavement. When cornering, this will have an adverse affect your handling.

i have 255-60-15 on my car. They were on the car when i bought them though. I personally wouldnt would that big of a tire on the turbine rim if it were my choice
