Progress Thread Today in the shed........

I knew things were going too well. Back to typical SBF bs. Barely leaned on the top 2 wp bolts and they snapped. Getting the pump in without pulling the a/c bracket was a non starter. 1 of the long wp bolts was a bolt/stud with the head behind the bracket. Then, 2 of the 4 long bolts were froze, requiring the heat wrench to free them. Then the lower thermostat bolt is froze. Timing cover has to come off anyway to get a straight shot at it. Being a SBF, it undoubtably needs a timing chain. At least all these parts are cheap lol! Rock Auto is digging this project. After snapping those bolts, tunes changed to Robert Cray blues.

More chipping away today. Who in their right mind pops for a nice double roller chain and forgoes the bottle of anti-seize? Idiot. Today's tip is if going in after said idiot, have a torch and dist. wrench handy or you'll break more than the 2 bolts I did. Went well getting to the last timing cover bolt. Another one of those bolt/studs hiding behind the lower air pump bracket. More heat needed, and had no problem ripping out that lower flexy air dam that was all kinds of in the way. Lower thermostat bolt came out by VERY carefully working back and forth. Parts should be here tomorrow, supposed to rain next 3 days. S'okay, got gaskets to scrape, parts to clean, gaskets to glue, and threads to chase. Hope to have it wrapped up next weekend. Nerve calming tunes provided by Atlanta Rhythm Section.
