Oh, and to list a disadvantage...if you run with no cats, you lose back pressure, which results in less low-end torque. IMO it's worth the sound. If you want to be able to switch between no mufflers and mufflers very easily, just get cutouts.
When I was swapping out catback's on my friends 04 GT, I started her car running through just the stock h-pipe. It sounded pretty good actually! She drove around the block a few times like that. It wasn't too obnoxiously loud either, and it had a nice growl. If I still had a stock h-pipe on, I'd dump the mufflers to see what it sounded like.
I have been running a side exit exhaust with no mufflers on an '03 for almost three years now...sounds brutal. Way louder than my buddy's BBK longtube/O-R H-pipe/2 chambered flows combo.
It can get really annoying on long rides though, drones badly at 2000rpms. When you punch it sounds sick. I say keep it, I've been very happy with mine.
Only major draw back is the NJ DMV failed me on inspection because they said it was too loud, I'm fighting that though.
