Ok well my TPS is reading 1v at idle. I already checked for open spots and its clear all the way to WOT which reads 4.63v. It should be reading .5-.6v max at idle. I was curious before I replace the TPS if I can just Re-adjust it to .5-.6v at idle which is 600-700rpm. Or are these non adjustable and just need to be replaced. I tried using the search feature but I cant find anything on that. Thank you very much.

As long as it's around 0.80-1.20 volts at idle, it should ratchet out and be ok. If not, it should toss a code.

What do you mean ratchet out? like loosen it and it would adjust itself from the spring tension back to normal then tighten up and I should be back to .5-.6? And its 1v flat that its reading and no its not throwing any codes.

I always thought you were supposed to set it as close to 1.0 V as possible. Where did you get the .5-.6 V info?

Well with most cars the TPS works with the 5v reference. If the voltage is pegged at 5 or 0 the CEL hit because the PCM knows its never supposed to see that. But on average you see .5-.6v at idle and 4.5-4.6v even 4.7v at WOT. So I am going off general automotive knowledge. Maybe I am wrong and thats normal for the mustang in specific. So thats why I am here. I dont believe it is supposed to read 1v at idle.

Your fine where you are now

You stand a very good chance of damaging your:
tps
or
mounting screws
or
mounting screw threads
chasing that ever elusive perfect idle tps voltage value.

I'd leave it alone and call it a day if I was you

Grady and I are on the same page.

And for the above-quote, it's a term which can easily lead to confusion.

Ratcheting refers to the computer's ability to continuously zero out the TPS baseline. If the TPS doesnt throw a code, it should be able to zero itself out.

Good luck.
