Hi I'm new to the forum, I hope to learn a thing or two around here.

My buddy has a 92 5.0 his tranny took a dump on him so he tried to install a t5 he had from a 95 5.0.
With the car on jack stands he said he made it through the gears although a bit rough. However when he dropped the car he couldn't even get it in gear. He said the shifter felt loose and wouldn't go into gear.

Also he said the original tranny had a wiring harness (2 wire connector) that ran up through the floor that the 95 t5 did not have. He doesn't know where it runs to.

Is there ant reason this 95 t5 wouldn't work in a 92?

Any help would be greatly appeciated. I thank you in advance for your help.

The input shaft on the 95 T5 is longer. On the SN95 the extra lenght is made up by the bellhousing so that's longer too. Perhaps he used a Fox bellhousing with the Sn95 t-5 and that would cause problems.

Ideally you want to use the fox bellhousing and swap the Sn95 input shaft and bearing retainer with a Fox one.
