I'm having problems with my 2002 T-5 transmission and was wondering if I should pull it out and rebuild it or just buy a T-45 and build that?

You should rebuild the T-5.

Why?

Because the T-45 is made for the modular motor and won't bolt up to a V6. Count the number of bolt holes around the starter. They are different between the T-5 and T-45. Any replacement transmission will need the same number of starter bolt holes as the current one.
