Tri-y header options - ground clearance

Any luck with the photos?
Sorry, I couldn't find the photos I thought I had, but thanks to 2+2's excellent pics, you can see about how mine fit. Although his pics show a '65 chassis, my '68 fits exactly the same. See how the collector is barely lower than the front sub-frame? That's exactly how mine looks and fits. My '65 fastback had long tube headers and sat at stock ride height and they hung down lower than my current dropped fastback with tri-y's. Not only that, but on my '68 they can be installed from above without scarring the engine bay, and starter clearance is excellent as well. Very good setup indeed.

Are the D690YS headers the manual trans version or automatic trans version? I have the automatic trans version and ground clearance is a non issue. Clutch cable will not work with these headers and so I put a hydraulic clutch in my car when I converted to manual trans. I would not fear the possibility of HP loss with these headers unless you plan to make huge HP. They work like a champ with my 331 that makes usable power to 7000. I port matched them to my ported exhaust ports. They work very well with a friends 289 making 400 HP. He has the manual trans version but he uses a Z bar

+1 for me, as well. I've run my T/Ys with a C4 and now with a T5 and "Z" bar with no ground clearance issues. My junk is lowered 1.5-2". As mentioned, they help in making big power & torque on my 331. I chose the "Z" (Barillaro version) as I didn't like the way the cable "snaked" it's way through the engine bay and it's potential for being "scorched" by the collector.
I've heard Doug's T/Ys are pretty darn nice and will work well with a future stroker build.
Happy Trails!
