It seems that putting new stuff, turbos, EFI, WBO2, data logging, into classic cars is very popular right now. I have shown the car at Knotts fab Ford show and the Reno Restomods show. The turbo piping pulls folks, mostly the younger crowd, from across the parking lot! I will be showing the car in Modesto and Stockton,(Sunday), this weekend so stop by and say hello.

The car is running great. I'm currently at 9-10 PSI boost. The MAF will need a recalibration before I go to 15 PSI boost. The water injection needs to be plumbed into the intake and it's ready to go.

I am asked, quite often, if I will make a kit. I am slightly interested but I niether have the time or the inclination toi spend hours on the phone with folks who think a "kit" means that the Jiffy lube mechanics can install it.

I am really pleased with the Tweecer RT tuner for the EEC computer. The data logging feature is great. It gets my "best buy" endorsement. If you don't really want to understand tuning, you be better off with letting the shop burn you a chip.

I learned alot on this three year+ project. Interest in classic turbo stangs seems to be building momentum. I would be happy to share what I have learned, just ask!

Thanks for your help man. I knew after seeing you stuff twins in there I could fit anything I wanted to run in mine. I also blame this whole thing on Brian. Track times ?

That I/C in the grille would catch just about anyone's attention! I think it would be fun to build a turbo car with a blow-through carb setup. A possible future project car my old man has is a '57 Ford two-door. We figure it would make a good Lakes car with a turbo 300ci I-6.

On making a turbo kit, it would only be beneficial if you want to devote all your time to developing and producing it en masse. That and dealing with people getting pissy that their kit is a wopping week late being built .

Anyway, too bad Modesto isnt closer or I'd cruise on out.

Nice.
I assume you used the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds installed backward?

Is there a web link for the Tweecer tuner? I am interested in playing with my tuning. I am not happy with the way it runs before it goes closed loop. I had a Cobra computer before I swapped to a GT unit, and it never gave me problems like this one does.

Thanks, it is/was a great project. I whish I could have about ten do-overs though!

Yes, I did. I tried HIPOS and 5.0 headers pointed forward, none fit.

jmenke -

When you switched from the Cobra computer to the GT, did you change anything else like the MAF or injectors? What size MAF and injectors are you running? The reason I ask is because the Cobra computer is calibrated for 24lb injectors and the stock cobra MAF is calibrated for 19lb injectors. If you have 24lb injectors and a stock cobra MAF, this will be a problem when using the GT computer. The GT computer is programmed for 19lb injectors. If this is what you did, then you will be running rich since you are running 24lb injectors with a 19lb MAF. Just a thought.

65myway,
I changed the MAF meter when I changed to the GT computer.
Injectors are 24 lb and MAF is a calibrated unit to match.
Runs fine in closed loop. Does not like the factory tune in open loop.

I changed the computer because the GT part is supposedly better at accepting mods. It did dyno better, about 25HP at the wheels.

I have been holding off on a custom burn chip, planning either turbo or charging, but the tweecer may be something to consider.
