Tune up advise please

Just a few questions from you folks.
I was wondering when I should replace the plugs, wires, ect..... Mt GT just got to 52,000 and it still has the O.E plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, and coil. The wires still have 1993 printed on them. Anyway the car is running great.
If I tune it up, should I just go back with Motorcraft O.E. stuff???? I keep hearing about these MSD ignition stuff  Is this better for HP or is it all :bs: .
Anyway give me your thoughts.
Should I just leave as is?? I looked @ the wires the other day and it looked like there were some hot spots on them but they are not arcing.
Help me out here folks.

Thanks Later "GT":flag:

unless you are modded engine wise, I'd stick to stock ignition stuff. I'd also pull the plugs and check gap/condition and re-gap if necessary. Look at the underside of the cap and at the rotor and clean with electrics cleaner if they don't look worn, don't worry about it. If they look a little burned, emory cloth is your friend. Clean the cap and rotor up and go, if there is nothing obviously wrong.
My words of wisdom, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and don't just throw parts at your car.
Plug wires should be fine, if they aren't arcing. You could always check resistance in them to verify, though.
Best "tune up" part you can put on it is 02 sensors, but if it is running fine, don't worry about them.

302Rollin has some great advice. Let me tell you about my last 2 5.0L foxes.

1992 Mustang GT. Original everything with 92,000 miles. I put every tune up part on it...Motorcraft stuff. Car still had good spark plug gap. Car ran exactly the same before and after the tune up!

1991 Mustang LX coupe...(current car) 135,000 miles. Autolites, stock wires. The car had NO power over 4,500 RPM. It would stutter, and pop and drop off like no tomorrow. I bought all Motorcraft tune up stuff. Put it all in, car runs BEAUTIFUL now!! Pulls strong as hell. I shift it at 5,900 RPM with no stutter, popping nothing. The problem was the crappy AutoLites gap was worn to .072 gap!!! Stock gap is supposed to be .054. Well my car has high mileage, so I gapped them at .048. I could not be happier.

I suggest Ford Motorcraft parts. Plugs, wires, cap rotor, fuel filter. If you want to upgrade wires...go Ford Racing 9mm. About 5 years ago I used them...they were too long, but I just put them on my 91 notch...they are much improved. The length is perfect!!! They looks sweet. *****Keep your old "1993" wires.*** They might be worth something someday...especially the 93's because you are attracting 1993 Cobra owners!!!

for a stock/mild car. the stock ignition is fine. you wont see any gains going to any higher dollar stuff. the stock ignition setup is pretty good and supports a decent amount of power. all i have ever read/hear is the stock parts are good for up to 350 horse.

i'd just get motorcraft plugs, cap/rotor, coil and some FRPP wires, pointless but they are 40 bucks and look good.

fuel filter is a good idea also, and the air filter. and the oil and filter.
